Edit: I feel like an idiot. I meant the topic to be, my interview is looming.

For those of you who have already passed the interview, I envy you!

I just found out that my case was sent out of NVC to the embassy in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, today. I've also been preparing my evidence. I was hoping all of you would help me out, and look through it... and let me know if it seems adequate or if there is anything missing.

I'll detail what I have:

1. A letter explaining various reasons we're choosing to live in the US.

2. Photocopy of NOA2

3. A letter of support from my boss at work (stating that I often talk about my fiancee, etc.)

4. Phone records, highlighting calls made on birthdays (mine, her kids')

5. Copy of the bio page of my passport, copies of all three Mongolia working visas.

6. Copy of Mongolian driver's license, school ID card from my job at a school.

7. Copies of birthday letters sent to the kids.

8. A picture of me with my fiancee, her brothers, and her son.

9. Pictures of me with my fiancee, and pictures of me with my fiancee and her kids taken at the airport on my last day.

10. Pictures of me with the kids. Pictures of when I was on Mongolian TV (don't ask) with the kids.

11. More pictures of me with the kids, and a picture I took of my fiancee, when she won an award, holding flowers I gave her.

12. Pictures of me and the kids, wearing Mongolian wrestling attire, which my fiancee took.

13. Pictures the kids took of themselves, me, my fiancee, on a nintendo DS.

14. A certificate I got from a Mongolian school which says that I speak Mongolian.

15. A letter I wrote in both Mongolian and English, detailing how I learned to speak Mongolian.

16. Emails from how I got my job in Mongolia, emails when I lost my job in Mongolia mentioning that it is hard on my relationship, emails from when I got my current job.

17. Affidavit of support, pay stubs, tax return, two letters from bosses at work, one from march, one from april, confirming my employment.

Does this seem like enough?

Thanks!

You're out-freaking, see man. Think positive thoughts.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Looks like you prepared an awesome interview packet! This is despite the constraints you had as to your fiancee's internet access, I applaud you.

Now I think the best thing you and your fiancee can do is relax. Wishing her best of luck at the interview!

What I can offer in theway of advice/encouragement is this. Your documents and evidence of yourrelationship have already been examined twice and found to be acceptable. Yourfiles from USCIS and NVC are now in transit to the embassy where their validitywill be examined. Your interview will likely be rather perfunctory providedthat medicals and all required Mongolian documents already submitted are ingood order. Have any other desired evidence with you in case it is asked for but I do not expect them to ask for more. good.gif

I have posted a reviewof our CR-1 interview in UB which you can read so won't go into great detail again. I will saythough that on the day for document intake at the embassy in preparation forour interview, the intake staffer declined any additional evidence ofbona-fides from the two binders I had prepared except for about ten album pagesof original photos that my wife specifically asked to be included.

I think that all will befine. I like the idea of having the whole family at the interview as even while in the waiting area of the consular division, you will almost certainly be under observation. Having a genuine family dynamic observed in the waiting area can only be helpful as kids interaction with loved ones cannot be forced!

Your commitment reminds me of my own! The last time I flew to UB, our case was still at the NVC, I flew on a one-way ticket, fully intending to stay permanently if our CR-1 was for some unfathomable reason not approved. We did plan though to make our home in the US as Bayaraa's English is almost equal to a native speaker and my Mongolian can never rise to that level.

Best of luck! I am jealous that you're on your way to UB!

Actually, I'm not on my way to UB. Just the documents are. I simply can't afford the extra expense and missed work when I already have five tickets I have to buy for them to get to the U.S., to be honest.

I haven't submitted these documents with the I-129F, by the way. My application was rather bare, actually. I was hoping she could give these documents on the document intake day.

My future stepson's name is also Bayaraa, by the way.

But all of your informationд их баярлалаа!!

зүгээр зүгээр, Happy to share!
I sympathize with you regarding the the air fares. I made 7 round trips to UB over the course of our relationship and could not afford to continue doing so. That was another reason for flying over on a one way.
I haven't priced travel in or out of Mongolia since we returned. When we flew back from UB, it was about $850 each for my wife and I and a reduced fare for our son, Make sure to get reduced fares for your kids. Where will they buy? Airmarket? I booked ours with Cheapoair.com. Got good rates with them and lucked onto the direct PEK-ORD United flight. I have always hated transiting LAX when I flew Air China!
As far as your documents go, I understand now why you want to send them for the interview. If your I-129 was sparse in that regard, the embassy should have no problem accepting additional documentation.
Your list of documents looks good :yes:and you should have no problems. Still, the wait is nerve-wracking.
 your stepson's nickname is Bayaraa as well? The nicknames have always cracked me up!
