"From August 1, 1996 (under the Family Law Act, 1995) the minimum age at which a person, ordinarily resident in the State, may contract a marriage valid in Irish law is eighteen years of age; whether the marriage takes place in Ireland or elsewhere. This provision also applies where one party to the proposed marriage is over 18 years of age and the other is under 18, and to all non-residents who are marrying in the State. All persons applying to marry in the State must provide a Registrar with evidence of age and identity. Failure to produce such evidence will result in refusal to proceed with the marriage. Persons aged under 18 must obtain the permission of the Circuit Family Court or the High Court to get married.

If the permission of the Circuit Family Court or High Court has not been obtained and either party to the marriage is under eighteen years of age, the Registrar or person solemnising the marriage must not proceed with the marriage ceremony. Any party to such marriage, or any Registrar or person solemnising a marriage, who is convicted of knowingly breaching the provisions regarding the minimum age for the marriage shall be liable to a fine of up to €635.

There is no requirement to obtain parental consent for a marriage."

Open, shut.

I don't intend to advise the OP to do anything illegal, therefore I am not going to advise her until I see proof she's 18. Also, little girl: Is minic a bhris beal duine a shron.

Not to be an alarmist (I guess I sort of am) but, honestly, "might soon be married", from a foreign teenager on an immigration board? I wonder about the intentions, and age, of the prospective US citizen fiance. I work with kids online (I have for many years since I was a Cyberangel in the late 90s) and I'm still a bit vigilant for signs of online predation. Just wanted to have that out there.

I KNOW the age requirements.. i didnt say i didnt?.. Also we're going to get married in the STATES.. (USA) wher ei live.. my fiance is IRISH.. age here is 16 with consent.. age there is 16 with consent..IM wondering if wegot married.. legally we can technically file petitions to keep him here, correct? So technically by LAW age isnt an issue , cause if youre married then what says you havent a right to a GREENCARD?? O_o

I don't think that is very reassuring, either.

I have consent and i can have family co sponsors.. just need to know forms to file & is age really an issue? hence i was told it isnt.

Never, ever visit VJ, seeking info, on a handphone .

Seriously - come back on a PC, restudy the landscape. The things you need (for study) are blatantly obvious,

when logged in

on a PC.

Come back, when yer at a PC.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

If you read the guides as suggested.... you would know the forms you need AND if you visit the USCIS site, it is spelled out there too. If you don't want to research and prepare then I suggest finding an immigration attorney who can do everything for a LARGE fee

Nobody here will put up with attitude. We are all here to help and support each other.

I get the "feeling" you are getting married to keep someone in the states legally...... but just so you know.... being married doesn't automatically grant a greencard.

If I were you, I'd be asking different questions ...... and I'd be researching the co-sponsor and the actual cost of the entire process. Its not just about getting married and letting everything fall into place.

just sayin'

OP, read the guides as suggested. If you have any specific question (s) then you can ask.

But let me say this: marriage is a long journey so you need to buckle up if you intend to embark on it. I have been married twice and stil haven't grasp it all.

Good luck!

Asked and answered in previous posting. See and read the guides you will see the examples, this is about reading and understanding what is needed, not being told. Compare the VJ information to USCIS's site forms and guides. If you cannot do it yourself hire an attorney to assist you.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

:wow:

OP, are you the girl or the Irish guy this time? In each different thread you post, you what to know about either a K-1, VWP or CR1. Either you know you want to come to the states to marry or you marry in Ireland. It seems suspicious and as though you are just finding ways to get to the US and stay here. What are you both really after?
