Calling Each Other Husband and Wife

We just have our NOA2 - woo hoo - after almost 9 months and are finishing up what paperwork we need for the next stage.

I have a bit of a concern about printing out the evidence of our continuing relationship. For the last year, we have called each other 'husband' and 'wife' in all our e-mails. We are not married but we feel like we are. I have heard that if the embassy suspect that we may be married, we will be denied as my fiance has petitioned for the K1. We have lots of other evidence of our continuing relationship since filing - I will have spent a total of 8 months in the US between filing and the interview. Should I focus on that and the Skype logs of our video chats? I don't think I will be able to find a single e-mail between us that doesn't say husband/wife.

Had I realized earlier that this might be a potential hazard, we would have thought twice about calling each other 'husband' and 'wife'.

8 months? I think the limit is 6 months within a one-year period, isn't it? Hope that doesn't get you into trouble.

The UK is part of the VWP - visits of up to 90 days at a time are allowed and re-entry is allowed (no guarantee you get in!)

Honestly, I'm not certain all the emails are even necessary with the london embassy. I'd recommend reading through the United Kingdom Forum and this thread London Embassy NOA2 to Interview Thread In particular. Lots of good information there. From what I've read, it seems like you would be fine without the emails, but read through for yourself and bookmark that forum. Lots of good advice from previous filers

i dnt think she meant 8 straight months but totaling the duration of each of her visits.

I agree that you should go with other evidences that you have instead on waking up trouble.Besides, you should be fine without all that, at Uk embasssy.

I imagine it would be hard for US immigration to track how long you were out of the country, because when my fiancee travels back to the UK, she just scans her passport, so there is no stamp ever showing her return. Only stamps in her passport are all US entry stamps. She's always returned WELL within the 90 days and never spent more than 12 weeks in any year here, but I don't see how they'd be able to know that from looking at her passport with the VWP

They do know. When I entered this time, the officer at passport control said 'I see you stayed the whole 90 days last time'.

I think I will err on the side of caution and use other evidence.

Yes, 8 months in total - not 8 straight months - although it will be during one single year.

Good news. London is not going to want to see one shred of evidence of an ongoing relationship. Throw the emails in the bin. About your visits. There is no written law or rule that says how long you can visit in a years's time that would make you ineligible for a visa. If CBP let's you in and you leave by 90 days so not to overstay the visit, then you have done nothing wrong.

Ah! Nich-Nick! You frequent places other than The United Kingdom sub-forum!

Thank you for your advice - it is always, always welcome. I thought I had done nothing wrong with my visits - it's within the VWP guidelines - but I expected not to be let in last time. I think the very long lines at O'Hare might have been to my advantage. And thanks for the advice regarding the e-mails.

If you havent overstayed before then usually its not a problem, provided you have a return ticket.

Mostly I click portals on the menu and look for Brits with questions. If you asked a question in a thread started by another person/country, I probably wouldn't see it.
