I think it's hard to say what the new notices mean until we see a pattern.

I don't see how all these cases could be getting transferred without at least some going into namecheck.....

Mine wasn't transferred to CSC. We had an interview Thursday morning and we were specifically told at the interview we had already cleared the FBI name check. Done, complete, she was putting in to order our green card that day. That was the morning of the 16th.

Yesterday 11/17 we got the normal email:

Application Type: I485 , Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

Current Status:

On November 17, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice. Please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283 during business hours.

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results listed above, or if you have not received a decision or advice from USCIS within the projected processing time frame*, please contact the National Customer Service Center.

Today, our status changed to (our status changed but we didn't get an email about it, I just logged in to look):

Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On November 17, 2006, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Combine that with the other thread about the finger print new notice, and I think it's pretty clear the system was changed.

We need a couple other recent approvals to check the system to see if their status changed.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm fairly sure my husband is in namecheck. He has a quite common name, and our case hasn't even been touched at CSC in close to a month. It would appear that in CSC cases, the namecheck happens before any kind of approval, but of course we have no good way to talk to the adjucators to find out what's going on. There are other people among the CSC transfers who have waited for several months, who watch wistfully as people zoom in and out of CSC with their green cards. Unfortunately, the process seems quite fuzzy.

Conditions Removed! Ten-year green card received 6/24/2009. No more USCIS for a very long time.

Well, I'm not trying to make myself feel better nor am I wishing this delay we are suffering on anybody. I do believe there's a problem with certain district offices when it comes to these checks. There's much evidence to indicate that these files get back-burnered in busier offices - they get put in some 'pending' file and when the FBI FINALLY gets the check done nobody notices. The point of CSC transfers is to take the load off those offices. One would hope that AT LEAST if a file slows down because of namecheck it wouldn't suffer the 'lost' fate at the CSC office.

I guess what alarms me and to some degree frustrates me is how a CSC transfer is perceived by VJ members. I've seen an increasing number of people rolling the dice that they will get a CSC transfer and not ordering interim EAD's and AP's. Then they worry and endlessly fret if something doesn't go according to plan. I also see SOME members get the transfer, and then post endlessly about how much longer they have to wait for approval. It's rather like the Vermont phenomenon - some people are lucky enough to get it and some aren't. But a transfer there isn't an immediate guarantee of speed.

ADIT processing would be if you needed photos or fingerprints for the card order.

LOL...dani I only even looked at our message because all the talk has come up about new ones. After reading ours and seeing that some of the jargon is similar to those in the approved CSC cases, I'm sure these are all just 'don't call us we'll call you' messages.
