I should be getting our case number any day and booking an appointment , how long does it take for the NVC to send out the case numbers once youve been approved , got ours on the 17th and how far ahead are the medical appointments for London ......Can anyone help ?

You can call the NVC and get the case number over the phone. Medical appointments are often available within the coming week. They aren't usually booked solid at Knightsbridge.

My guess about the police certificate is that they won't require it. It's just a tool to help them with evaluating 2010 Technical Instructions for Physical or Mental Disorders with Associated Harmful Behaviors and Substance-related Disorders for Panel Physicians which replaced the 1991 instructions. Prior to the new instructions the police certificate was not required by Knightsbridge. Here's an excerpt:

Medical History

The panel physician should review the applicant’s Medical History and Physical Examination Worksheet (DS-3026) and available medical records. To fully investigate the applicant’s past medical history, the panel physician, when possible, should -

  • Obtain other relevant records, such as
    police
, military, school, and employment, that might provide a history of harmful behavior associated with physical or mental disorders.

  • Ask accompanying family members for information about the applicant regarding any military, police, school or occupational problems, or social dysfunction.

  • Ask about mental disorders in the family and, when appropriate, about signs of mental problems or odd behaviors.

  • Ask about any use of drugs and medicines.

  • Ask about harmful behaviors.

Bullet point one is why they started asking for the police certificate. It is an easy requirement since people are getting them anyway for the interview. They have other bullet points listed to evaluate your teen since she isn't required to have a police certificate.

But really, why don't you just ring them on the phone and ask?

Edit: I forgot to say, this is a specific question about practices at the one clinic that does all medicals for UK visas. The UK forum is a good place to post this kind of question, since it doesn't apply to K1s worldwide
