Hi everyone,

I filed my i130 petition in the New Delhi USCIS office on April 4th. It is April 24th and I have still not heard anything - no email, letter, anything.

I am starting to get worried. Have emailed the Delhi office, tried calling, but have not got any response. Any ideas what I can do? Or if it usually takes this long?

Thank you,

Janani

Congrats ;)

Could you share your timeline as well - like date of NOA, when did you receive packet 3, medicals etc

We filed I 130 in Delhi on the 29th of April. Still no information or NOA what so ever.

We emailed them but again, no response ;(

My consulate is Delhi as well so I expect them to act fast.

Thanks
Mudit

We did not receive anything!

We filed on 4th April.

I emailed CIS.NDI@dhs.gov - the Delhi Embassy - on 24th April, and they replied saying that my application was processed and forwarded to the Mumbai Consulate the previous week.

The next week I started emailing the vfs - support-india@ustraveldocs.com - to get my case number. They sent me a bunch of random replies and finally replied that they had no record of my case and I should send them the case number, which was why I was mailing them in the first place! Absolutely useless they are!

On May 9th I received a letter from the Mumbai Consulate, dated April 26, saying that the interview was scheduled for the 24th of May and that all documents should be brought. That was it.

No NOA, no Packet 3/ Packet 4. Just the application and the interview date. We were expecting it in July/August. We have all documents. The only think that's iffy is the "Intent to establish domicile". Hope we have enough proof. Will update after the interview!

Hi Mudit,

Will do and thanks!

For proving intent to establish domicile I have:

1. One way flight ticket to the US

2. Resignation letter

3. Emails from recruiters and companies with interviews scheduled

4. Letter from cousin stating that my husband and i will be living with them when we get there as well as his lease agreement

5. Quote from movers

6. Letter from the city of Waltham (where I used to live) stating that I have voted in the last 2 federal elections

7. The certified mail receipts to prove that I filed late taxes.

8. Proof of opening a US bank account - couldn't get a statement as it has been less than a month since I openend the account, but I have some communication and screenshots of my internet banking page.

Hoping that it will be enough! Will update once the inteview gets over.

Hey Janani

Thanks for this and it looks strong. I received letters from the consulate stating that I have my interview on the 10th of July. Before that I have to send applications etc.

Our case looks very similar then. I am waiting to hear about your interview and you have all mine and my wife's good wishes !!

Fingers crossed

Hi Mudit,

Thank you very much!

My husband got his green card approved!

They didn't ask him anything much. A few questions about how we met and how married life is, when i came to india, then about his job. Turns out the interviewer was from the same place as his company's head office so he was all like "It's a beautiful place, you should come there" etc..

He didn't look at proof of relationship, or domicile! - though this could be because the vfs has already looked through it once, but not sure espcially considering a lot of people had issues proving intent to establish domicile.

The interview lasted about 5 minutes in all. Let me know if you want any specific information. Will create a new thread in a few days with the whole process so it will be useful for other people!

All the best for your interview! :)

Congratulation Janani smile.png You guys must be ultra energized right now!!

The mail that I have physically received is a combination of Packet3 and Packet4 (Was yours the same?). It also has my interview letter stating date and time.

I have following 2 questions:

1. DS 230 and 2001 : Did you mail anything to the consulate before you went for this interview? I am confused if I should send these applications along with I 864 to the consulate or carry them with me.

2. I 864 : My USC wife is staying here in Gurgaon with me and she works here as well so ofcourse she is a Sponsor & filling I 864 but to fulfill the income requirements we also need a Joint sponsor (My mother in law). Should my mother in law fill I 864 or I864A? My wife's permanent address in US is her parent's address.

On another note, when are you guys leaving? Which state will you be going ? smile.png)

Congratulations once again!

Mudit

Thank you! Yup! We are now in the process of replanning our move, as we had originally planned thinking that my husband would not get his green card till I moved - so not sure when or where yet!

Actually no. We received just 1 letter from the consulate - a single sheet of paper printed on 1 side, with the interview date and time. It also said that we should bring all documents to the interview.

1. DS 230 and 2001 : Did you mail anything to the consulate before you went for this interview? I am confused if I should send these applications along with I 864 to the consulate or carry them with me.

I'm not sure about this. Lot of people did mail it in. But in our letter we were specifically told to bring all documents (also since we had just 2 weeks, it was not possible to mail everything in time).

I filed the I 864 with my indian address(present address) which was different from the address of the joint sponsor, so both of us filled out different I 864s.

However, if both people file with the same address, then your wife will have to fill out the I 864 and everyone else in the same address who's assets/salary is counted will have to file an I864A

Thanks! and hope this helps!

Hey,

Just before we applied, I filed back taxes for each year since I turned 18. (Even when I didn't have any income) You will have to submit tax returns with the I864, or a letter explaining why you haven't filed. The best thing would be to file back taxes ASAP and then take the last 3 years with you when you go. I sent mine by certified post in the US so attached those slips to say why I only have a copy of the tax returns and haven't been able to get a transcript yet (it takes about 10 weeks after you file to be able to order a transcript)
