Need help with the following question ASAP please:

on the DS-230 Question #43a says "have you ever applied for a SSN"----- well for my husband it's obviously a NO, but then at the bottom of 43a it says "

DO you want the Social Security Administration to issue a card". Should he say "yes" or "no". This is confusing. Is it a yes only for those who have had a previous SSN and lost it or something?

For question 43b it is disclosure consent, but who is this for? If my husband does not have a SSN should he still tick off yes here?

thank you

you may choose YES or NO. the whole idea behind 43a is for USCIS to fwd the new immigrant's info to the SSA office. the SSA office would then issue/mail T the new SSN but this does not work - broken system.

43b - yes or no.. your call.

these questions are like multiple choice. what i know is he will have to march to the nearest SSA office and apply for a card.

Need help with the following question ASAP please:

on the DS-230 Question #43a says "have you ever applied for a SSN" Answer NO, if he NEVER applied before.----- well for my husband it's obviously a NO, but then at the bottom of 43a it says "

DO you want the Social Security Administration to issue a card" Answer YES if you want to automatically get an SSN card after POE. It will be delivered to your US home address.. Should he say "yes" or "no". This is confusing. Is it a yes only for those who have had a previous SSN and lost it or something?

For question 43b it is disclosure consent Answer YES, but who is this for? If my husband does not have a SSN should he still tick off yes here?

thank you

You'll get the SSN card a few weeks after POE. It worked for my hubby and our kids.

Not really. In our Philippine Facebook group, all F2A/F2B/IR/CR members got SSN card (delivered to their homes) with no problems. I know the system is not perfect, with a hiccup once in a while. I wouldn't say its broken entirely though.

Asking on the form for the SSN by saying 'Yes' works for a lot of people just as Apple 21 said.

My sons card was received in about a week after POE. There was an issue with my name so mine was not sent and I had to go in to the SSN office to sort it out.
