I have a question: Are tattoos and piercings haram?

I am wondering because Hicham said that tattoos were haram and I didn't know that so I'm just curious to see what you guys think.

Arent they considered Haram in Christianity too? I'm not sure Are all piercings haram?

My husband doesn't seem have a problem with my current piercings. We have never discussed it.

I have 5, 2 piercings in each lobe and 1 in a cartilage. Rarely do I wear earrings in my ear lobes but I always keep one in the cartilage.

Would that also apply to the traditional Berber tatoos that women have? I know its less and less these days and always has been berber culture not Islam. Curious.

I have tattoos and 8 piercings and my husband loves them! I've asked my husband and he does say it is haram in Islam. I would like to get another tattoo in the future and he tells me it's fine with him.

Because there is evidence in the Sunnah that women wore earrings, including companions of the Prophet, without it being a problem.
