Do they assign Alien numbers to holders of fiancee visas? I thought they do that only when you apply to an immigrant visa or adjust status. Either way, it sounds like they have been working on my application. I am a Sep 27 CSC filer. Has anyone experienced this? Or is this a fluke?

Yes k-1 applicants get A numbers. It is your number for the rest of your life even after becoming a naturalized citizen.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Sept 27 CSC filer here.. We were directly approved yesterday, no Alien number changed message

Thanks to everyone who responded. I am calling USCIS now because I was honestly not aware A numbers get assigned to K-1 applicants. I don't know why they would since K-1 is, despite the immigrant intent, still considered a non immigrant visa. My primary concern is that with all the approvals they are giving out, CSC may have mistakenly done something to my petition which will cause more delay.

The A# is assigned right as the casefile sits in front of an adjudicator, on an I-129F petition.

Just to be clear, this may have been the case before, but more recent filers are receiving their Alien Registration # right after acceptance of their petition and LONG before an adjudicator starts working the file for acceptance. I filed in February and received the A# for my fiancee right after the NOA1 and so have quite a few other recent filers.

Not saying that what you posted wasn't true at one time, just to let more recent filers know that this is common and no longer necessarily means that your case is being adjudicated.

January 31.2010 - Met Online April 10, 2014 - Mailed in I-485 + I-765 March 19, 2016 - Mailed I-751 to CSC

February 20, 2011 - Met in Person April 14, 2014 - Forms arrived at Chicago Lockbox March 23, 2016 - I-751 arrived at CSC

July 28, 2012 - Engaged April 17, 2014 - Acceptance email arrived stating case forwarded to NBC March 23, 2016 - NOA1 Date (received March 28)

February 5, 2013 - Mailed I-129F to Lewisville, TX April 27, 2014 - Received letter for Biometrics appointment April 20, 2016 - Biometrics scheduled (incomplete due to dry cracked skin)

February 6, 2013 - USPS Receipt/Delivered I-129F April 28, 2014 - Received Acceptance NOA1 hard copies for AOS and EAD May 13, 2016 - Walk in Biometrics Completed

Not saying that what you posted wasn't true at one time, just to let more recent filers know that this is common and no longer necessarily means that your case is being adjudicated.

I am definitely hoping for the alternative since I didn't get the A number right after my NOA1, which is back in Sep. Given the trends, it's in line to get adjudicated, but it's the unexpected that always keeps you up at night.

Yes, in your case, being that you are a CSC filer from September, it is likely a safe bet they are working on your case. You are smack in the middle of the dates they've been currently processing (according to Igor's List). Sounds like you should either get an RFE or NOA2 sooner rather than later. Best of luck
