I think he was making a joke.

Sorry for the derail OP. We likes to haves fun here!

I was joking..... Thank you for having enough of a sense of humor and IQ to figure that out.

Obliviously you are married to a foreigner. What little bit of truth that was in my tongue in cheek reply was.. There are some very famous Canadians here in the U.S. that no one would know if we were not told.

Am I the only one who watches King of Queens and thinks Doug is a horrible husband? Every episode seems to be about the fact that he's a liar.

Yes you are the only one that thinks he is not a great husband and who does not swoon every time he comes on the screen

And they don't quite stand out as much as my Chinese wife does in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I know she feels it. Just last night she told me she missed seeing Asians. I think she feels uncomfortable being such a minority and that really messes me up. I hate it.

On a side note, the Canadian white man has completely ceded Toronto to Asians and Indians.

That is the point I was going to make except that I just knew Mrs Politically correct to the point of sickness one and two. would immedtialy come back with some stupidty along the lines of--

why just because someone is white and talks a certain way, would you assume they can be American and someone that is Asian with an accent might be a foreigner you are a racist judgmental typical white male and should be castrated and shot . That is why America is full of hate etc etc etc blah blah blah

P.S> we have a large Asian community we hang out with here. Our wives get to hang out with fellow Philippinos , talk the language, cook the food.. They seem to really enjoy it

Doug is your Ideal Husband... Well let me tell you what. Not only do I look like him I got told I act like him. My Ex-wife said she can not watch the show, because it is like being reminded of me. I agree he is the perfect husband, much like myself.

Unfortunately, I am known to act like Carrie though so I am trying soooo hard to be a little less "in your face" in this relationship but my fiance is very Doug-like in character and keeps me on my toes and laughing

I feel for her because it is a pity when you feel like you don't fit in. I was born in Germany to Ghanaian parents and came to Ghana at 8 years old with an accent and different style and sense of humor so I am used to not fitting in wherever I go. I now have an accent that is a mixture of everything, so some people assume I am from the "Islands" though I don't know which island

I was born and raised in the U.S., but I speak five languages and lived in various places from a young age. When people hear me talk, some of them ask where I'm from, too. I've never even been to Europe, but a waitress started talking to me in German one time, because she thought I must be German.

*shrug*

What would Xenu do?

Alas, that just doesn't exist here. There are some pockets of Vietnamese but even those numbers are low. I think she misses the the large amounts of HK transplants in the Toronto area and definitely the food. The HKers take their food very seriously!

Same with her. English speaking people can see the Cantonese influence in her speech and the Cantonese speakers don't think much of her Cantonese. So she feels like she doesn't 100% belong to either contingent. But in Toronto, there are many in this boat so she had support.
