Include "A"-number on I-865?

Hi everyone,

here's my question:

My husband is in the US and I'm in Germany, we went through the DCF process and I have my visa in hand, but won't be able to move to the US until just before Christmas.

My husband is currently filling out the I-865 and it asks for my (the beneficiary's) A-number.

I searched my papers and found it on the white sheet with my information that's stapled to the brown envelope that came together with my passport with the visa.

Should I include it in the I-865, even though I have not yet moved to the US and therefore have not yet activated my visa?

Yes that helps them connect the I-865 to your file at Homeland Security. All future forms that you file with USCIS will reference your A#

When he went back to the US recently, he moved in with his parents, and their address is the one we put in on all the forms (I-864 etc).

Now he found us a place, he moved in already, I will once I go over to the US.

And because he's my sponsor, he has to inform USCIS about him moving, right?

Yes, you've got it right, he does need to file, I just didn't know all that from your first message.

He completes I-865 and uses your A# from your visa. You don't do anything for yourself til you get to the US, and you can give your new US mailing address at the POE--make sure they record it so that your Green Card can be mailed to you.

Yours is a bit of an unusual situation actually. Your I-864 is not on file with CIS yet because State handled the whole thing and you're right, it's not really on the record until you get here, but this is the most conservative approach and doesn't hurt anything. "CYA" as they say
