Hello,

I'm new here so forgive me if I'm in the wrong forum..I have a question for anyone please.

My husband filed an I-130 for me on October 2 2012 and we received notification that it was received as well as they had cashed the check..

since then we have heard absolutely nothing. we have called numerous times to find out where our paperwork was, so far from different conversations we have been told, 1- it's in chicago ( where we went it) then it was sent to Missourri and then it was in the Albany field office. our number begins with MSC so when we check online we can't find a thing.. Does anyone know why it would go from one place to another and yet we were never advised? is it possible our paperwork was lost and they just haven't let us know? any words of wisdom would be appreciated..thank you

All petitions go to Missouri first - thus why your number starts with MSC (Missouri Service Center). From there, the vast majority get sent out to local field offices. This would explain why it got sent to Albany (I'm assuming from your profile that that's where you live). USCIS does not notify the beneficiary or petitioner of transfers to local offices, so it's normal that they haven't told you about this change. You can get the USC to call and talk to a Tier 2 rep to find out exactly where it is - they should be able to confirm that it's been sent to your local office (Albany, in your case).

As for not hearing anything since October, this is fairly normal, too. Cases are taking 6 - 8 months to get approved lately, so the fact that you haven't gotten your NOA2 isn't necessarily something to worry about. I would call first and make sure your case is at your local office, and then you can contact the local office to get more information about your petition.

Good luck! good.gif

Thank you so much for both your answers! I don't really know how to read the chart but I get the jist of it  I live in Montreal Canada and have been married four years, we've been together fourteen, we aren't spring chickens but we wanted to wait until my children had grown and flown the coop before attempting to have me move to the states...fourteen years is a long long time to wait to finally be " really married" In the meantime I'm selling my home here so that when I can finally move I'll have only to grab my stuff and go!

thanks again.
