I'm hoping someone can tell me what happens once a case is received by the US Embassy Manila? Do they just send an email with the notice and etc, or do they actually send something in the mail? Our case file left the NVC on 11 Apr and we still haven't heard anything from the Embassy yet. We have, however, scheduled the appointment, got the medical done and even went through the CFO course and obtained the CFO Certificate. The interview is scheduled on 9 May and I'm touching down in Manila on 6 May... Now what? lol What should we get from the Embassy?

Yes, I plan on calling the USEM this evening to ask if they have received our case file. Fingers crossed. What I'm not sure about it if they just email the Applicant or if they actually send the Applicant a package in the to their address...

I will be at the Embassy with my Fiancée to support her that day, so I will make sure to give as many details to everyone after that.

Don't bother calling, don't bother giving it a second thought... you are ready to go so relax and "git 'r dun!"

You're kidding, Hank! So, you never received a letter or email from the USEM prior to showing up for your interview?

That's something else! So, although there is this policy that the USEM will "send the Applicant something advising that they can not prepare for the interview and go to St Luke's", it's only a general letter that everyone gets; not specific to their case? hahaha :wow:

Can Chinook and I join the club? We are still waiting for the letter too! :D

The boilerplate Embassy letter is sent to the beneficiary via PhilPost. My theory is that the beneficiaries who never receive the letter are those, like you, who took the shortcut of getting their MNL case number from the NVC and scheduling their interview right away. The ones who don't take this shortcut wait around for the Embassy to generate the letter and, worse yet, wait for PhilPost to deliver it.

Oh its addressed to your fiancée and has the MNL # on it but other then that its this letter:

In English: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/Revised%20K1%20Instruction_rtf2_002.pdf

In Tagalog: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/K1instructionTag%20rtf3%20_2__rtf2_013.pdf

And most do not get that letter. Like Tahoma said - those that sit around waiting for the instructions letter before doing anything most likely get it... after a few months of waiting (this is where VJ really comes in handy for sure)

You may have gotten the confirmation letter for your appointment, or at least you printed the confirmation page from scheduling online, as you will need that when you show up at the embassy.

Ahhhhhhh I see! I just didn't want to arrive at the Embassy only to have the Guard say, "May I have your passports? Also, may I see your Embassy letter with your MNL Number and your name on it; along with your Appointment Confirmation"? I'd faint right there on the spot! hahaha :P

All I currently have is the Confirmation Page that I printed when I scheduled the appointment online...

So who gets the Appointment Letter; me our my Fiancée? lol

Your fiancée would be the one to receive the appointment confirmation letter IF... and that can be a big IF as well. You have the confirmation page from online, that is what we used also as my fiancée did not get that letter either.

It was a great experience being there for the interview, something I highly recommend - not that its needed, but it was very enjoyable actually, I had fun.

Afterwards we jumped in a taxi and went back to my wife's home and had a party.

I can promise you guys one thing! I'll have a couple drinks in your names after the interview! It's all the unknowns that gets into the back of one's mind with something so critical. lol

Did you post a Embassy Review, Hank? I'm sure that would be a good read!

We were some of the ones who got it, and even in a timely fashion. We had already gotten the MNL case number and were proceeding anyway, but I'd say our letter arrived about 2 or 3 weeks after it was sent to Manila from the NVC. Party I attribute this to our address in Manila being a fairly stable condo complex that actually seems to 'receive' mail. So it made a nice addition to the file, but no need to actually have it. You seem all set, just sit back and wait for your interview, and good luck!
