If it weren't for my job, I'd move to Canada with my wife in a split second. There is absolutely nothing in the US that I can't get in Canada, and for the most part I find it to be a cleaner and more friendly place to live. The only thing keeping us here is my job, period. I've got 20 years in this company and I have accomplished quie a bit since being here.

Exactly. If it weren't for my husband's job, he'd have been the one to move as well.

The premise of the OP was that America was not the best place to be. That presumes there are better places to be. If you are happier slumming, when you could be styling, I guess that makes this a good choice for you.

The premise was that America is not the greatest country in the world. That presumes nothing but takes a realistic view of the fact that this nation is losing ground in many areas. People elsewhere are happier, healthier, better educated or wealthier. That's a simple, verifiable fact. Why must one ignore facts to be allowed to live here?

what'd you do?

I looked for jobs? You can get a working holiday visa to Australia or New Zealand for a year. After my student visa in the UK was up, I couldn't get a new visa because of visa regulations in the UK restricting number of work visas and the whole "must do a job no one else in the EU can do" working restrictions.

Canada is good except for on-line shopping and Quebec.

yes i have. i wouldn't want to live anywhere else

That doesn't make it the best. That just makes it your personal preference. Which is perfectly OK.

What does everyone have against the Canadian francophones anyway?

Hey, my father's French! I have nothing against them in general, just the few times we actually went over to Quebec for family gatherings, I did not have the greatest experience due to my lack of speaking the language.

You know, I'd just like to add, the arrogance of people who travel abroad and say "Yeah, hi, I come from America... the best country in the world. We're way better than your country." are the reasons that people in foreign countries do not have a very good image of Americans. I was often ashamed to admit to being American when asked where I was from.

What would Xenu do?
