Hey, my father's French! I have nothing against them in general, just the few times we actually went over to Quebec for family gatherings, I did not have the greatest experience due to my lack of speaking the language.

I've never been to Quebec, but I have been to Ontario, and met many people from Quebec. Everyone I met from Quebec was great. Plus, I got to practice my French.

What would Xenu do?

I LOVE Canada but I don't think I could move back there. When I go back to visit I notice how much more expensive things are compared to where I live in the US

True. I've been here two years this September and sometimes I'm still amazed at how cheap something is.

if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

I really hope that we don't hear much of a sound from North Korea, but I imagine it sounds something like "boom!" Or, with their luck of launching rockets, maybe a quiet "splash" coming from nearby?

By the way, I haven't actually been to North Korea, and therefore will not judge it, except jokingly.

I don't know how many times someone in Ontario yelled at me for not speaking French. And yet when I went to Quebec and spoke English, they were offended that I "expected" that of them. Bah.

I have found that it all averages out in the end. What Canada charges in higher taxes, the US charges in upfront money, such as health insurance. Also home prices in Canada are dirt cheap compared to the big cities in the US. I could buy a mansion in Canada for what I pay for my house in Mass.

That doesn't make it the best. That just makes it your personal preference. Which is perfectly OK.

yes, it does make it the best. every life decision should be made based on personal preference. you're the one that has to live with it.

Why is that the question? That's not the point of the OP or this thread.

because we changed it.

What does everyone have against the Canadian francophones anyway?

Uhm, their mind-numbing insistence to NOT be part of Canada ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
