If you make a moment to study my two responses, you'll find they are actually the same thing.

Your blanket is your own issue, I promise not to talk about it in open forum any further.

Oh, well I doubt southern baptists consider the pope the last bastion of the Christian faith

The Pope is not even a Christian, but rather an amalgamation of Roman Patriarchal Society* and Babylonian Mythology, if you believe the Baptists and a few other of the Fundamentalist Christian Sects.

*Which is really strange when you think about it, Roman bathhouses, young boys always in the company of old men, and all. Anybody watching DaVinci's Demons?

If the world is as it should be, and religion plays no role whatsoever in determining the laws non-followers need to live by, he could say whatever he wanted and it wouldn't bother me.

I guess the issue I have is that many countries, including the U.S., have let religion-based laws and procedures stand. Some countries are run entirely by religious law.

That's something that I wish would stop.

What would Xenu do?

Insert joke about asking "is the pope catholic?" As an affirmative answer here

Non-issue, for them

If the world is as it should be...[snip]

By who's rules or standards? Come on - someone's standards and rules has to be imposed. OK, it's not yours, it's someone elses.

Now What?

Well, at least we can still use "Did Grizzly Adams have a beard?"

Yes, someone's rules and standards need to be imposed, and no, it need not be mine. There just needs to be a completely justifiable reason for everything put into law... that's all I ask for. Myth/religion does not equal justifiable.

Isn't that like all Muslims being expected to condemn an act of Islam motivated terrorism?

Not at all.

Pick another issue that divides the Shi'a and Sunni and lets try this one more time?

I'll stick with Hammurabi as 'the base' and everything else that went forward (and hasn't been struck down) since then is 'mostly' ok with me, for laws.

I guess my point really is - if'n you don't want to talk about the laws you already live by, and your adoption of same laws, how you gonna swim in a new world of your own laws? I know, is really crass of me to assume anything, but.. hey !

The laws I live by are actually quite alright for me. There aren't many laws the disable me from being able to do what I personally want to do. The problem is when you get laws like DOMA, which make it impossible for others to do what they want, with no valid, logical reason. I'm using that because it's an easy example, but I have come across other laws which made no sense, and hope that they are struck down (which they eventually tend to be.)

When you look in other countries, it is much worse. Many people are put to death for doing things that can only be described as religious crimes, particularly in the conservative Islamic countries.

Well, I think I would split the radical Islamic clerics off from the rest of Muslims even if their denomination does reflect my belief. Based on what I've heard from people that at church of Christ or southern baptist, even if they share the same denomination, there can be real differences at the church level. I imagine this must hold true for Islam.

DIVORCE: Francis agrees that divorcees who remarry cannot take communion, but wants them attending church.

"It's a very strong value in Catholicism, marriage until separated by death. Still, today in Catholic doctrine the faithful who get divorced and remarry are reminded that they are not excommunicated. While they live in a situation on the margin of the sacrament of marriage, they are asked to integrate in the life of the parish."

I think this is wrong. If I remained with my ex I would have had to wait until he died before I could have a life? That seems a bit unfair. One mistake should not mean a life sentence with the wrong person. So divorcees are thought of as lower then child molester priests. Typical.
