This is a gushy emotional post but I thought I would share what happened last night. With the holidays fast approaching, many will still be apart and I remember how difficult it was for us this time of year. This will be our fourth Christmas since we met, but our first one together. So here is a bit of our life to give those apart a bit of hope.

The past three Christmas I avoided the reason for the Holidays, because they had no meaning without him here with me. When I would go off to do my shopping I would hear some Christmas carol playing over the loud speaker, and begin to feel a lump in my throat. Last year in the middle of the grocery store, I was rushing down the aisles wiping away tears.

Last night Tim and I went to the grocery to get our Thanksgiving shopping done. Half way through the store "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" began to play. All the emotions from the past hit me like a ton of bricks and I got that familiar lump in my throat, wiped away a tear and grabbed my husband for a hug, because he was THERE. It really made us both realize all we had missed, and showed us exactly what the holidays mean.

So no matter how hopeless your journey feels during the Holidays, keep in mind there will soon be a time you are together. I think this song states it well:

Have Yourself A Merry Little ChristmasLet your heart be light Next year, All our troubles will be out of sight Have yourself a merry little Christmas Make the yuletide gay Next year all our troubles will be miles away Once again as in olden days Happy golden days of yore Faithful friends who were near to us Will be dear to us once more Someday soon we all will be together If the fates allow. Until then, we'll have to muddle through somehow So have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

Very nice post, B !

For the 1st time in 3 years, I won't be Scrouge ! I am actually looking forward to them...

We don't have a tree, hence the evil dogs would have it on the floor in 2 hours-but I plan on doing the traditional Italian, 7 fishes Christmas dinner that my granny would make each year.

Good to see you getting on so well ! How's the new job? Hope you're good and business is booming !

I have good news ...I am finally going to work that coveted 5 day work week (like normal ppl do) once 2007 rolls around.

Will speak soon...

Mrs B, miss ya woman! I was thinking about you a couple of days ago.

We decided that we are going to be selfish and stay home Christmas day and enjoy each other and the kiddos. We will be doing up a Christmas tree, the Brit wants an "American" tree. He thinks people put more into the trees here, and wants lots of lights and ornaments. I have a feeling my old dog will try to have a wee on it and the newest addition will think baubles are her play toys.

Loving the new job even more so because Tim is there in the office. Having the weekends off is wonderful! Not having to do physical work is nice, but I am now putting on weight because of it. We need to get back into walking despite the cold temperatures. So glad to hear your work schedule is being reduced, it is well deserved!

Wishing your family a Happy Thanksgiving. Will surely think of you guys while watching the Macy's parade on Thanksgiving morning.

Have a wonderful first Christmas together! :)

Joel and I have been fortunate to spend the last two Christmases together. However, this will be the first one as a married couple. The best part of this one is NOT having to make a mad dash for the airport a day or so later. NOW the next time we enter an airport it will be to fly out together....and arrive back together. :luv:

Oh Bethanie...I do understand those feelings though. So many times I would be out shopping or just doing everyday normal things and I would start crying because to me, Joel and I should be doing these things together! Now I can reach over and touch him when I remember those lonely feelings and when I feel the tears start to come. He understands and holds me tight. Aren't our husbands wonderful?

That was a very sweet post, Bethanie. I am so very thankful to be together this year too. This is our second Thanksgiving and Christmas together. It is very special.

** To all those not together at the moment:

It is very difficult when you are apart. The road is long and some days are harder than others. Sometimes it seems as if time apart just drags on and on. But do realize that when you're no longer apart, even the quiet times spent together are precious.
