I-130 Forms

Im a USC petitioning for my step child under 18 yrs. I sent the package with the I-130 among other supporting documents and I already received my NOA of acceptanc (receipt). I didn't see a biography form on the list nor a affidavit of support if petitionign for a stepchild under 18. Are they required at any stage of the process?

When you say "biography form" are you referring to a DS-230 or a G-325A? You definitely need the G-325As with the I-130. The DS-230 is filed later with NVC after the I-130 is approved. Same with the Affidavit of support (I-864).

Children do NOT need a G-325 or photos for USCIS. Either way, those would have gone with the I-130 petition and if USCIS was missing something you would have received an RFE for it. You have already had your petition approved so you're on to the next step.

You will need to do an I-864 for NVC as well as provide the other required documents such as birth certificate and passport. Photos will be required at this stage as will medical etc. Did your spouse also immigrate? From here on out it is pretty much the same.

The child does not need police clearance.

The process for step-children is much less cumbersome. I was so surprised how simple it was putting my kids' packages together compared to mine.

I didn't bring any children. I just assumed it was an equal pain in the a$$ for everyone. Maybe there are a few people at USCIS with an IQ over 80.

Children 16 and older DO need police reports but that's at the NVC stage. You didn't need a G325a, but even more biographical information will be required with the DS230. You can complete that at any time but cannot send it until NVC is ready to receive it.
