Packet 3 is forms and instructions that need to be filled out to get the interview scheduled.

If you go to http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/k_visas.html#amc1 most of the items are listed there

YMMV

Hi there I read all the information on the mumbai consulate website, but it make me confused, because on step one said, dont send the following document right now but bring them with interview, and the step three said, in order to get interview appointment u need to send in the checklist and sign date form and the all document, so I am wondring if we need to send any required document with the packet #3 or just only 2 forms which I beleive is DS156 and DS156k, and plus 2 passport photographs, I also read on this thread that, you have to make medical appointment your self is that correct?, so the embassy dont assign any medical date to you? if not then can we have medical on same day of our interview date, will it be fine? I need help to get process with packet #3 for my fiancee where we are stuck now? any help will be appriciated thanx

packet #3 is totaly confused for me, because website tell me 2 different things to do with packet 3 so need help what to send in for packet 3 and what for exactly packet 4

Hey Gurdip:

hopefully someone who went through Mumbai will respond to your query. But the way the packet 3 process worked for us (through Colombia) was that she received a packet 3 telling her which documents are needed and then she faxed back just 2 documents which basically tells the consulate that she has all the docs ready (you just send them back while you are getting the documents like birth certificate, vacccination records, police reports etc.) After that the consulate sent her the packet 4 telling her which doctors to contact and when her interview was. I assume Mumbai will be similar - it sounds a little confusing (that you need to get all these documents but don't need to send them now - its normal.) Good Luck
