On H1B - PPD Positive

please if anyone can help me. I had my medical done, and it says that I'm fit to work, but my employer is requiring me to be tested for PPD. it turned out that I have positive results, but my xray is clear. i already have H1b visa. do you think I would be delayed because i have positiv PPD? or is it ok for me to go to the US and work?

please anyone...any answer would be a greatt help.tnx!

Lots of people get positive PPD tests. It is only the xray that gives a definite answer that you don't have TB. I don't think there will be a problem.

They should just go straight to a sputum exam if they want the golden standard. Even x-rays are only probable examinations. If they find scars on your xray films then you might be held back since the sputum exam will need some time to accomplish. It takes weeks :( You can only know when they finish your exams. Hope things fall into place. God bless.

It's likely your skin test was positive because you had the BCG vaccine as a youngster. That's common for Filipinos. Your x-ray must have been clear and that's why you passed your medical.

Did you complete your medical at St. Lukes extension clinic? St. Lukes would not make you undergo a TB culture if your x-ray was clear. However, I doubt you completed your medical at St. Lukes because you said you got a skin test and I believe St. Lukes does not perform skin tests on adults.

I don't know what your private employer would require.

no, not on st. lukes because i'm under H1b i guess. any idea if most employers in the US would not accept you if you have positive PPD and negative xray?or they just want to document it? tnx again!
