You need the taxes for the past 3 years. If you just got a job with enough income, you DON'T need to wait for next years taxes- you can submit pay stubs and a letter from your employer stating your new annual salary (or estimated income).

Once you are married, you can apply for a green card right away.

You don't need tax returns for the past 3 years, only the past one year, or a letter stating why you didn't have to file. It's all in the instructions.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Ah. I got a RFE for mine, so I assumed they wanted them all these days...

I think you misunderstood your RFE. The choice is to include one year of prior tax returns OR three years worth. The returns must be complete.

I still have a copy of the RFE, and it pretty clearly states (since the helpful officer highlighted AND underlined exactly what he wanted from me on the list, like I wouldn't understand, pshhh)

-Evidence of ownership, a recent licensed appraisal or county tax assessment and any mortgage/lein or lein release of any real estate.

-Provide copies of the 3 most recent Federal Income tax returns, all supporting documents (W-2s, 1099s, and tax schedules) and evidence of your status as a United States citizen, United States national, or Lawful Permanent Resident.

It was obviously a form letter, but those are the two items he highlighted and underlined.

PS. Like I wouldn't understand him [the officer], not you. Sorry, realized that might have sounded rude.

Do the real estates have to be in USA? Or can they be in a foreign country to be counted as a financial support evidence?

Which country are you in? Most embassies want assets to be US based, but some (I know LOndon does) are ok with foreign based assets as long as it's 5 times rather than 3 times.
