Hi Everyone,

I entered the US on my K1 last night at Honolulu. I am a little confused about the next step in the AOS process. The officer said he had very little experience with K1s and was a little unsure of what happens to my visa package. I was under the impression that the package would be sent to my local office when I AOS.

I am now a little concerned they will keep the package there with my medical etc.. and will have to redo it. Can anyone tell me what will happen with my package? Any ideas on if there could be an issue as he was inexperienced with K1s?

I am hoping there will be other officers there that will know the procedure but I want to put my mind at ease. I am worried the whole visa package will be lost or thrown away or something.

Thanks everyone

David

*** Moving from K1 to AOS from Family Visa forum ****

See here for the next step in the immigration process: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

They should be sending your papers to USCIS, and they will be forwarded to your local office, so the officer will have them when you apply for Adjustment of Status after your wedding.

If the officer is unsure of how to handle your paperwork, there is always a supervisor around at close of duty-shift who's seen a K-1 case before and would know how to handle or process your paperwork.

At a minimum, the officer knows how important these immigrant documents are and would not just trash it (I hope s/he has respect for his/her profession).

That makes sense. Thank you.

Another issue I am a little unsure about is that the officer did not ask for my X rays and when I mentioned them he seemed unsure and said he thinks I need to call CDC when I get to the town I will be living.

I have never heard of this and the Dr mentioned nothing about this. He just said to carry them in my hand luggage in case they ask for them at POE. I have no class A or B conditions, my X ray is normal.

Anyone know what to do about this at all?

Thanks again evryone.

David
