What do you mean by you were sent away? Did they do the other parts of the exam? Did they ask for a report from you GP?

It doesn't sound as if you failed as such, they just want more info from your doctor. This often happens with medical conditions- basically, they want to know if your issue is likely to need medical attention in the USA. If yes, they may ask your fiance, the US citizen, what his plans are for medical coverage for you.

Yes, that is normal for anybody that has any kind of condition like high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, depression, heart disease, and any number of existing conditions that can't be assessed in a short exam. They want to know more about it from your regular doctor. Many people go with a letter/report in hand to avoid the delay. Once they hear from your GP, they will forward the medical forms on to the embassy.
