What about AOS?

what does it mean?

Thanks in advance

AOS is affidavit of support. To show that the applying immigrant has enough financial support to live without concern of becoming reliant on U.S. government welfare.

congrats bob2013!!!

thanks brother

I found more info in a forum:

Pre-NVC Step

Collect all the following general documents beforehand to speed up the NVC timeline. Note that these are general documents and it differs case by case.

I-864 Package additional documents from the Petitioner

1) Last 3 years IRS Tax Transcripts

2) Employment letter

3) Last 6 Pay stubs

DS-230 Immigrant Visa Package additional documents from the Beneficiary

1) 2 Passport Size Photographs (2X2 inches) of the Beneficiary

(Write down NVC Case# and Beneficiary’s Full Name and Date of Birth on the back side of both the photographs lightly)

2) Completed and signed form DS-230 Part 1 by the Beneficiary

3) Completed and unsigned form DS-230 Part 2 by the Beneficiary

4) Photocopy of the Passport’s Biographic Data Page of the Beneficiary

5) Original Birth Certificate of the Beneficiary

6) Original Marriage Certificate of the Beneficiary and the Petitioner

7) Original Police Certificate of the Beneficiary

Step 1 (Around 1 week after USCIS I-130 approval)

NVC Receives case from USCIS Service Center. Do not wait for I-130 approval notice from USCIS. Dial (603) 334-0700 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (603) 334-0700 end_of_the_skype_highlighting to check NVC status

NVC Assigns a case number (LLLNNNNNNNNNN)

Where:

LLL is 3 letter Foreign U.S consulate where applicant appears

First NNNN is the 4 digit year NVC assigned the case

Second NNN is the 3 digit Julian Date assigned the case

Last NNN is the 3 digit serial number on the above date NVC assigned the case

Step 2 (Around 1 week after Step1 above)

NVC Generates and sends a copy of the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent form) to the petitioner

NVC Invoices I-864 AOS Fee Bill to the petitioner online

Check out the website https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx

(Important :- Get Invoice Identification Number (IIN) during the above steps to pay online from NVC live operator. This is 8 digit number)

(AOS in this context means Affidavit of Support. NOT Adjustment of Status.)

At the same time, NVC generates and sends the DS-3032 to the Beneficiary at foreign address

There are now two independent tracks within the NVC.

For the Sponsor (USC)

Step 1 (No extra time needed)

The petitioner pays I-864 AOS Fee Bill ($70) online using bank checking account (no credit card)

Step 2 (2 days)

In 1 or 2 days time, payment status will show as PAID. Immediately print out I-864 AOS Barcode coversheet from the site and mail the entire AOS Package to NVC using USPS Express mail

Important:

1) Write NVC Case# on the top right hand corner of all pages of the I-864 AOS package

2) Create your own cover letter to I-864 AOS package

3) Use the address on barcode cover sheet

Step 3 (1 day)

NVC receives I-864 AOS Package

Step 4 (Around 1 week after Step3 above)

NVC enters I-864 AOS Package into their system and review it in couple of days time

If more info/evidence is required, then NVC

will generate and send a checklist.

Petitioner responds to the checklist and it is

entered into the System.

Important : If NVC’s AVR message says “Your forms are reviewed and found missing and incomplete details…” after your I-864 review and before your IV fee bill or DS-230 generation, don’t get panic. NVC is waiting for your IV Fee bill and DS-230 generation.

For the Beneficiary/Applicant (Non-USC)

Step 1 (No extra time needed)

Beneficiary emails DS-3032 (Choice of Agent form) to NVC at NVCINQUIRY@state.gov

Important:

1) Subject line of email must contain NVC Case#, Beneficiary Full Name and Date of Birth and the Petitioner’s full name and date of birth as well

Step 2 (Around 1 week after Step1 above)

DS-3032 entered into NVC System

Step 3 (within 1 week after Step2 above)

NVC Invoices Immigrant Visa (DS-230) Fee Bill online

Step 4 (No extra time needed)

The agent pays IV Fee Bill ($400) online using bank checking account (no credit card)

Step 5 (2 days)

In 1 or 2 days time, payment status will show as PAID. Immediately print out IV Barcode coversheet from the site and mail the entire IV Package to NVC using USPS Express mail

Important:

1) Create your own cover letter to IV package

2) Use the address on barcode cover sheet

Step 6 (1 day)

NVC receives IV Package

Step 7 (Around 1 week after Step6 above)

NVC enters IV Package into their system and review it in couple of days time

If more info/evidence is required, then NVC

will generate and send a checklist.

Agent responds to the checklist and it is

entered into the System.

CASE Completion and Forward to Foreign Consulate by DHL (Around 1 week after all above steps)

It is estimated using email for the DS-3032 and online payment of the I-864 and DS230 then printing off the barcoded cover sheet will reduce the NVC process to only 6-8 weeks.

So far it has taken us only 5 weeks and 2 days to get to the point where all our documents have been recieved and entered onto the system. We are just waiting for the case to be reviewed and then our file to be sent to London. We should also both get a copy of the appointment letter about the same time the file is sent to London, but I'll post an update when that happens.
