Please and thank you.

Q1. National population commission told my fiance they do not issue birth certificates for people over 18. They can only give him an attesstatation of birth that says the birth wasn't registeted which does have parent info on it. The embassy won't accept that will they? He was born in ogun and lives in Lagos. What should he do?

Lol. I forgot my second question. My brain is overloaded with all the stuff I have to be gathering and doing for the interview. I'll post it when it occurs to me again. My thanks to all vj members who have helped us get this far.... By directly answering my questions and also by sharing your own experiences. This site and all of you have been a huge blessing!

On the Lagos embassy website it says

Birth certificate... Obtain one birth certificate or age declaration.

Is that really true, I mean has anyone actually used an age declaration instead of a birth certicate? I know there is an age declaration and birth attestation. But I don't know the difference and I don't know if it will suffice as a birth certicate as their website says.

Anyone know?

Pls ignore him taking the ATTESTATION of birth to court to stamp ..u don't need to stamp it again. Jus do the age declaration first which is done and stamped in court then u tke it to get ur ATTESTATION of birth.

God is love!

Thanks Erin O. But was he able to file for AOS with that attestation of birth? And also you mentioned being older than 30... Does that make a difference in which document you need?

Yes my husband used it to file for AOS, I sent it to him then got it back after my interview frm d CO. No, d age doesn't matter was only referring to d age u mentioned earlier but ignore...jus a guide line for u guys.

God is love!

I believe you two are speaking two different AOS.

TJ you are AOS-Adjustment of Status.

ErinO AOS-Affidavit of Support

Two different processes that go to different places (USCIS for TJ and NVC for ErinO)

Thank you for clarification. I believe so too. We're just going to to use the attestation for the interview because we feel crunched for time.... Then go get the birth certicate. I think he will have to go to ogun for that.
