  1. 1. What should Obama do?

    • Arrest and deport all Chechens in the US
    • Arrest and send all Chechens to Gitmo for waterboarding and interrogation
    • Use drones to strike key targets in Chechnya
    • Send in the B-2's and nuke Chechnya back to the stoneage
    • Give a speech
    • Nothing

The thing about that article is that American media had not referred to Chechen attackers as "terrorists" through these events, but referred to them as "rebel fighters", "guerrillas", "insurgents", etc. Now that the attacks could've potentially (not sure if it was Chechen agenda yet) happened here, we're quick to label them "terrorists" and the events terrorism. Bit hypocritical, as usual.

A rose by any other name...

You know how in North Korea, it's said that if you break the law or disrespect the government, they don't only go after you -- they go after your parents, aunts and uncles, cousins, pet hamsters.....

If the U.S. overreacts to this by trying to bomb the place where these people who have lived in the U.S. since they were kids come from, how is it any different?

What would Xenu do?

The US is not going to bomb Chechnya or k-stan over this.

Because it's okay if we do it. Duh.

No... they'll probably figure out a way to use this to start a drone war with an unrelated country with lots of natural resources, taking out hundreds of innocent children along the way.

In response to the original question, the best option is to outlaw guns and pressure cookers. Also nails, ball bearings, cars, circuit boards, and cell phones. I can't believe how easy it is to get your hands on those types of dangerous things.

Nah, just background check everyone who wants to buy 'em. Then the people who want to buy 'em but are not supposed to have 'em can get turned down with no fear whatsoever of being prosecuted for trying.

That's a real awesome and effective crime control tool.

As long as those resources benefit me in some way, I'm cool.

No kidding. What's wrong with making a little profit off of the droning of innocent villagers anyway? Business is business regardless of crummies in tummies after all (stolen from Seuss)

i don't get it.

Public execution is what Islamic countries do to terrorists they catch in their country. What's to ban?

Killing someone isn't even a punishment. It ends their life and sets them free. The only people who suffer when a murderer or terrorist is killed, are the family members and loved ones of that murderer/terrorist, who will miss him/her.

I don't think it should be about revenge and punishment, anyway. I think it should be about peace and rehabilitation.

Who said anything about suffering? It is about making an example of the rule of law. OH and in our case eliminate the repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat offenders.
