221g Joint Sponsor

I had my interview last April 18, 2013 and shockingly I was given a 221g form asking for a joint sponsor.

They needed the ff documents:

from a qualified joint sponsor ANYONE

* Affidavit of support with original signture

* U.S Federal income tax return(s) for year(s)

* W2 form(s) for year(s)

* Form 1-864A from joint sponsor and spouse/co-resident with original signatures

* Evidence of U.S citizenship or status as lawful permanent resident

* Evidence of current sustained income

Do you think it's fine if I will be sending them scanned copies only of i-864, i-864a, w2, itr and stuffs? Should my husband needs to fill out another i-1864? because it'll take a week if my husband will send it via mail and I already have my ticket..date of departure will be on May 31, 2013. We're both really worried. I hope to get a fast reply from here. Thank you so much in advance

Scanned copies won't do because it clearly states that original signatures are required. Tell your husband to mail the documents via FedEx or DHL.

Never make flight arrangements until you have the visa on hand. You still have to do the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar at CFO after you receive your visa and pay the new Immigrant fee of $165 BEFORE flying to the US.

Sorry that you bought your ticket, but they always advise not to do so until you have your visa in hand.

They want the original signatures on all the paperwork, if you do not send it, they will deny the petition. If it takes a week to send it, that is better than not receiving your visa at all. Just be patient a little while longer and you will be with your loved one for life.

thanks for the reply :) I only brought scanned copies for my interview and it all went well..except for the 2012 itr of my hubby which was really low that was why I was given the 221g form and was asked to have a joint sponsor. :(

Have your husband send you the original I-864/I-864a via FedEx three-day express.

Yes Tahoma :) Already suggested that to hubby. I told him that if we will just scan and send to the USEM we might be asked for another 221g form asking for original copies that would delay the review more. Thank you for the suggestion. I really appreciate it :thumbs:

Thank you Apple21 for the reply. Yes I already informed him about this since we can't take the thought of having another 221g form. I already had my CFO certificate since last year and I'm already aware of the $165 Immigrant fee.

About the tickets he and his family were just so excited of having me there. So they booked my flight. It was his mom who took care of everything. Even until now that we needed a joint sponsor. I'm just so blessed of having such wonderful in-laws. (L) (L)

It's ok Pinkrlion :) we already have co-sponsors. They're his mom and his sister. They did all the paperworks for us. I felt so flattered and blessed to have them as my in-laws. His mom was actually the one who took care of my departure ticket. It's not going to be until the 31st of May and we'll be sending the original docs to USEM next week. It will take a week or 2 for me to receive my visa according to my friends too who experienced the same thing (221g joint sponsor)so I'm good(I hope)

(L) thank you for the advice and the encouragement. That made me smile today =)
