Hey there! Any Canadian willing to share their journey/feedback, etc. (that is in process for K1 to U.S.A).

Thanks! :)

We did it. Are still in the process in fact. This is a broad question. Do you have something specific you are concerned about?

Moved from K-1 to Canada forums as OP asked about other Canadians experiences/journey.

I came on a K-1 in 2009, just became a citizen on the 16th of April 2013 and journey is finally over. Its been crazy, lots of papers, lots of ####### to keep track of but totally worth it all.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Welcome to VJ...Hundreds, thousands, of Cdns have gone through this process here on VJ. No 1 cares more about ur situation than you!!! Take some time and read the K1 guide in the k1 forum!! At the top of this page one sees EXAMPLE FORMS----of already filled out forms. Again at the top, there are reviews of consulates! 99% chance your question has been asked, so dont be afraid to use the search feature...and of course we are friendly, so ask away as well. Best of luck! The paperwork is easy, it is the waiting that can be difficult! and YES you can visit during your journey, lol Of course with some ***** Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Welcome to Visa Journey and welcome to the Canada Regional Forum. You're in good company here. You'll find lots of us who have gone through the K-1 process and who are more than willing to share the benefit of our experiences - the good and the bad  . Be sure to visit the K-1 Visa forum as well, and between these two areas you should find lots of useful information and lots of valuable resources.

I came to the US on a K-1 visa in 2004 and we will be celebrating our 9th anniversary this year. I became a US citizen in 2009. There is light at the end of the tunnel :P. Good luck on your visa journey.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
