Sweet, we agree. Laws will always be circumvented by criminals.

Now how do you start decreasing gun violence in the country? Lets not get caught up looking for the end all perfect solution. At this point, we just want to see the gun related deaths per year start decreasing in a meaningful fashion.

Enforce the existing law.

sorry, what? liberals are the reason the mentally ill aren't properly cared for? please tell me i'm misreading..

Liberals are the reason that the proper care of and privacy rights of mentally ill are more important than notification to the community of where they are, who they are, and whether they are dangerous or have shown signs of being dangerous yes.

It was the same for released child molesters until enough children were killed that the community as a whole decided to change things.

Enforce the existing law.

They can't and won't. They don't care two sh$%s about murder of children and prosecution of people identified illegally buying guns to kill them.

So they go after innocent people and their rights to divert attention from their lack of concern for public safety.

Enforce the existing law.

People don't always get guns through the system.

Example. We start "enforcing the existing law." My buddy and I go through a background check. The existing law is applied. I pass, he fails. I legally obtain a gun and he can't. His GF cheats on him. He breaks into my house (since we're buds and he knows I'm not home) steals my gun then begins to shoot his gf, and a few others. Existing laws, even when enforced, have let you down.

let's start with you referring to mentally ill as "crazies". then we can talk about the current cost and availability of mental health care. and as an afterthought, long term living assistance.

was it the same? pretty sure right now we have a database full of criminals, and while some pose a legitimate threat to children a great deal of the people made to register post no threat to children whatsoever. if you had an underage girlfriend at nineteen and her parents did like you and decided to persecute you for statutory rape, you're on that list for the duration of your existence. real effective.

man i never laughed so hard in all my life.

stupid community organiser doesn't have a clue how constitutional government works. runs around the country campaigning with a stage troup, reciting bogus statistics, screaming about how people deserve a vote. not one bit of American Jurisprudence in the entire performance. total idiot, total failure.

You should hang out with better friends.

He cannot pass the background check and now he is stealing that too from friends... lol

Law did work... as per law he should not own a gun and he was not able to make a purchase.

Lets go other way what if your friend steal a car rams into a bank and commits a bank robbery, uses the same car as getaway car, would you say we should stop producing car?

He didn't pass. He failed. Apparently he has a history of domestic violence. Something I was completely unaware of (this person is made up but don't for a second think you know everything about all of your friends past)

Yeah it did, but he still got a gun. My point exactly

What if he also stole my ski mask and used it in the robbery? Should we stop producing ski masks? Cars and ski masks aren't made to kill people. Some guns and ammo are designed specifically for that.

All the weapons the criminals and mentally ill use to kill small children were once bought by law abiding individuals. Take away the weapons, make them harder to buy, and you reduce the availability of those weapons to the criminals and the mentally ill. Even law abiding individuals can become criminals and mentally unstable. We keep matches away from children that are well behaved, not just the ones we are sure will start fires.

So far your argument has been to reduce the gun production, if you apply your own logic that would be applicable to ski mask and cars too.

I don't know a particular gun that is sold as human killer, same is with ammo - there is zombie killer..:)

You said law was not working I just showed you law did work by barring your friend from making a purchase, now what gun pro folks are saying is these new laws would not do any difference.

Pro gun ppl are not against safety of other human life, we are on same page but the approach presented by current administration is wrong. Just scaring ppl and making them think the new gun laws would protect them is nothing more than smoke and mirrors.
