Even today all the lic dealer does not matter where they sale, on internet or in gunshow they are required to run the background check.

Not only lic dealers sell at gun shows and over the internet. This is where criminals and nutjobs get their guns. Hassle free and in virtually unlimited supply.

If you want to reduce the crime, go after criminal why are you going after gun.

Nobody is going after the gun. We tried to turn off the supply to those that are not supposed to have access to them. Why do you fight for the criminal and insane person's ability to acquire deadly weapons? What dog do you have in their race?

I can't go after them until they've already killed people. Unless you mean like a nationwide force that knows when any gun is being used by someone other than the approved purchaser. Seams pricey if not impossible to me and I'm not a fan of taxes or debt for that matter.

Make it easier for ppl with mental disorder to get a proper treatment help them with rehab just coz one crazy nut used a gun, you go after gun.

Well, you gotta hope that this can cover the people that don't want the help and we don't end up forcing people into this treatment. (insert stalin and hitler treatment of people with mental disorders references here if you like)

OR, we could just make less guns.

Something I've considered that might make both sides slightly happier was something like a gun that wouldn't fire unless the fingerprints matched the "background checked" purchaser. But then criminals would find a way to hack it and it would make person to person gun trading nearly impossible.....

OR, we could just make less guns.

That is still private dealing which is not covered.

Lets say even if the new law was passed, do you think the criminals would not find a way and seller who wanted to sell anyway would had found the way?

We already know there were more that 77,000 ppl who tried to purchase weapon when they are not allowed, why not go after them?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

All internet and gun show sales were covered. That's the point. That is the easiest supply for criminals and nutjobs and that supply was to be turned off. But the NRA and a minority of Senators love criminals and nutjobs and will fight tooth and nail to ensure that they have ready access to firearms. These bastards one day should fall victim to gun violence themselves. Better them than any one of the 90% of Americans that has common sense on the issue. The should reap what they sow.

Oh come on...

Sorry but that's what it is. There was an opportunity to shut of several channels of the firearm supply to criminals and the mentally ill - it's common sense to turn off that supply. And yet, the NRA pushed to ensure the continued supply of firearms to criminals and the mentally ill and a minority of Senators opted to bow to that push and leave that supply open and available to criminals and the mentally ill. 9 out of 10 Americans say shut off that supply. But they care more about criminals than they do about law abiding Americans. They are scum.

at least you don't think the root of all problems in america are rap lyrics themselves.

If someone thinks that, they need to broaden their horizons a little bit.

Seriously, though... The goal in life of most people in America isn't to be able to provide what their family needs... it's to get as rich, successful, and powerful as possible. I don't know what the root of this is. Maybe it's how we're raised, maybe it's capitalism, your guess is as good as mine is, but when there are people who want more than they need, there are people who get less than they need. When you get inequality, that seeps into politics, because the politicians want to work with the people who can put money into their campaigns. Then, the politicians can force the rich people's agenda of getting richer, more powerful, etc. onto the poor people.

The answer isn't raising taxes... the answer is teaching people that they only need so much, and that always chasing more just leads people to stress.

Lets say u force everyone to do the background check - someone tries to purchase a gun and is rejected at the gunshow.

What next?

You think this person is not going to purchase and a gun and is not going to find someone who would be willing to sell him a gun?
