For your brother who is 19 years old (current age?), it will take 2.5 years for the whole process. So if the PD is June 2012, he MIGHT be current end of 2014.

For you who is over 21 years of age unmarried, it will take about 8-10 years.

hi many thanks for your reply. my brother is now 20 years old , and for me 8-10 years too long time .. ! are you sure about that , most of the people told me it will take 4 -5 years...and what if sibling filing for brother or sister , how long it take , we are from Bangladesh.

The above is correct (also, you must remain unmarried), and a sibling needs to be a US citizen to file (greencard holders cannot), then it takes 12 years : http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5927.html

Your brother who is under F2A has a waiting period of 2.5 years. I do hope he wont get over 21 when he becomes current to avoid conversion.

About your case who is over 21 of age, yes, the waiting time is a lot longer than your brother. My niece PD is March2005 (Philippines) and up to now no progress yet. That is already 8 yrs :( and i hope she'll be current soon. As for brother or sister petitioning for you, i heard it will be soon dissolve. And the waiting period is a lot longer too.

The above posts are all correct. Whoever told you that you will immigrate within 4 - 5 years is wrong. Sorry.

Your younger brother will immigrate sometime next year 2014. (F2A category - Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents)

You will have to wait 8 YEARS before you can immigrate AND you have to remain unmarried until you receive your green card. Marriage will void this petition. (F2B category - Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older) of Permanent Residents)

If a sibling will file for you (your sibling MUST be a US citizen and at least 21 years old), waiting time will be 12 YEARS. (F4 category - Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens)

12 years is how long people have been waiting who are coming through now, the future looks a lot longer.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

As long as he enters before that day he is fine. DO NOT wait until the day before as a plane problem or weather could make his visa invalid.

See above

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
