Our interview was so easy today. Approved in 5 minutes

Here is cop and paste from the other April filers topic:

12.30 we got to the USCIS Office. After security we were told to wait at the same place we waited our Biometrics. About 12.50 they asked everybody who had interview at 1 to go and check in. There were 7 couples together. Then we had to go to the 2nd floor. We were in the elevator with one Ukrainian girl and her husband. we noticed that there were 2 different kind of ticket numbers: some started with "O" and some with "P". We had O and they had P. Last time i saw the time in TV it was 1.15. We were the 2nd couple who were called in (different IOs). Our IO was so nice and friendly. He sworn us in when we got in to the office. He asked from my husband how we met and then told our I-130 is approved. Then asked is this our address we had in the application and said approved again. He gave me the paper what we have to do in 2 years and gave me a book "Welcome to the US. A Guide for New Immigrants". Then we were just talking about his work and life in US. I asked about the stamp but he told me I only get it if I have to travel out of US in next couple of days. He told I should get my card 7-10 days. When we got to the car we saw that my card was ordered from the USCIS App. It was 1.30.

When we left the Ukrainian girl was sitting in the waiting room alone. So I guess they were interviewed separately. Maybe that's what the P tickets were... (not sure about that)

We had one BIG bag with us. We had the binder (about 200 pages) and 2 big photo albums in there. But all the other couples had only 1 small envelope or binder (10-20 pages in it) and maybe a photo album with them. But we didn't need anything from there Only 1 couple had a lawyer with them.

We wanted to go and apply for DL too today but in NC you need insurance first. We called to the insurance company and they told I need my SSN first. DMV told us to go to the insurance place tomorrow with the SS receipt and we should be fine. So we' ll see tomorrow.

So I think I'm the luckiest person in the world today. i feel like the king (queen) of the world After sitting home 1.5 years I feel alive again!!!!

I hope you all gonna have interview as easy as ours. And thank you everybody for support and advice!!!! You are the best!!!!!

Little bit before 6 today I received e-mail that I-130 is post decision activity and I-485 went back to decision (On June 20, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status.)

On June 24, 2013, we mailed the new card directly to the address we have on file. You should receive your new card within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283

And in 2 days I'll have my interview....

Our EAD card was mailed today (6/24/13) also..wohoooooo.....interview on July 17th

We had our interview today... It seemed pretty easy

We arrived at the field office about 5 minutes before the appointment, and there was a huge line of people waiting outside. We asked the last person in line if he was waiting for an appointment, he said yes... Anyway, I went to the front, told the security officer that we had an appointment in a few minutes and showed him our appointment letter, so he let us come in before everyone else. Went through security, had to switch our cell phones off and were sent to a window to check in. The lady there took our appointment letter and asked us to wait. By that time we had reached our appointment time, and we were the only people in the waiting room designed for 100 people...

After about 25 minutes we were picked up by a female officer and led through a maze of corridors to her office. Before sitting down we had to raise our hand and swear to tell the truth.

Then we were asked to sit down and she started asking me (the applicant) for my name, date of birth, country of birth, country of citizenship, address, phone number. Then she went through the question in the I-485 form (ever been arrested, member of communist party, ....) Then she asked us when and how we met, what we liked to do together in our free time, what my wife (the USC) is working, if I am working (of course not, no EAD so far...). She didn't ask for any of the documents that I prepared, no proof of joint assets, no photos, nothing! And I spent all this time assembling the docs from the checklist...

She told us about the ROC process in 2 years and in the end said that they will have to complete the processing and I should have my green card in about 4 weeks.

All in all she was friendly and very professional, the whole interview took about 15-20 minutes.

So far the case status at the USCIS website has not been updated, but I'm not too worried after today's experience. Plus, I received my EAD combo card in the mail today, the day of the interview! So I can finally start working and travelling outside the country!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Chula Vista field office... I feel a little more at ease knowing how the process goes there. I, like you, have spent countless hours assembling documents for the checklist proving joint assets, etc. You must be a little annoyed that they didn't even ask for it, but it's better to be over prepared!

A little p... off now... I got an RFE 2 days after the interview, it's about the i-864 affidavit of support. As my wife is only working part time now, she doesn't meet the requirements alone, that's why we used my assets to make up for the difference. As I have not yet transferred all of my assets to the U.S., I still have shares and investment funds in Germany in EUR currency, for which I attached proof with the original I-864. So now they require current bank statements for funds in US Dollars, with a U.S. bank, apparently they don't trust my proof from European banks...

No word about that during the interview, it seems like they didn't even check my application in detail before the interview!

So they didn't approved you on your interview? I thought you got approved on spot..

That's what I thought... But in any case, this is fixable, just a bit annoying that this didn't come up earlier...
