Evylin I will agree with you that some news is pathetic in this country. There used to be a "fairness" doctrine for TV news, where news had to report all sides of the story. That was abolished in the late 80s (and Fox news was born). I also noticed this election year what I would call the "real" news remarking that fact checking used to be done in real time, and they were proud of it, a part of their journalistic code, but now they send stuff to "factcheckers" who report on it a day or more later. Then any lies are not exposed, and people forget and don't care about the "factchecking" report.

CNN reports Tweets. That's what they've come down to.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading Twitter too... but I know what it is. Too many CNN viewers don't. They think CNN is reading it out, so it must be true.

I really don't know how tweets became news. Even on the local news they report tweets. Instead of asking people on the street for opinions, they report people's tweets and even say "hashtag." It's ridiculous.

Well, tweets are a fine alternative to asking people on the streets. Because that's exactly what Twitter is. Just regular people like you and I mouthing off on stuff. Just as if we were on the street, which we no longer are, because we're too busy Tweeting...

Well yes, I understand that. But the results are different, and weirder. Asking someone on the street is supposed to be asking an "everyman." Twitter is like a contest for sarcasm and internet wit and funny hashtags. The news can filter through to find the internet prizes, instead of actually getting some opinions from real people. I feel like twitterers are just vying for an "internet queen" pageant title.
