Hi everyone,

I am a US citizen and filed an I 130 for my sister (lives in UK) last June via California Processing Center. The new immigration reform talks about an 18 month repeal for F4. Does this apply to people who are already in line (like my sister) or does it mean no new people would be able to apply for the sibling visa? As we have another 2 years to wait until her I 130 is approved, I was wondering what you all thought.

Thanks so much.

If that particular line of the law is enacted it will apply only for future applicants. Those whose application was accepted will still be processed.

How do you know when your I-130 is going to be approved ? And you realize there is long way beyond that as they're currently processing 2001 priority dates ?

Yes I realize it is about 11 years for the full process. I looked at the current processing times that shows 36 months for I 130 sibling.

That's the processing time for USCIS to approve the i-130, not the visa. Your sister will immigrate some time in 2023, given the current movement of the Visa Bulletin.
