AIDS is worldwide, male babies are born worldwide, male circumcision occurs in vast parts of the world outside the United States.... and you come to me with a study based in the US? How very provincial of you. And here the CABA ladies had me believing you were part of the progressive posse.

In fact, you did. The Huffington post copy you cite does not mention any studies based outside the US.

Incidentally what/who are CABA ladies?

Goodness.

You said: "It is a common misconception that circumcision happens mostly for religious reasons."

You were responding to something I said, not the HuffPost article.

"Incidentally"?

If circumcision is stopped, where will all the restaurants get their calamari?

Circumcision seems so barbaric. What a weird tradition.

Is there any taste difference?

I've assisted in circumcisions-the parents opting for them are not all like the Dothraki from Game of Thrones. Overall I find the procedure less traumatic seeming than catheterizing 6 week olds for suspected UTIs, but that's subjective.

I've always been on the fence about it if we ever had a little boy...then I met a doctor who traditionally would not be circumsizing any of his boys for cultural/religious/family reasons [indian Hindu family] except he was a pediatric urologist. Even though he got flack from the family about it, he made sure his twin boys were cut. He'd seen way too many painful complications that can happen and figured even if it was only a 1 in a 100 chance his boys would get any of the problems/infections/issues with being uncut he'd rather they be circumcized.
