Hi. I am a 21 year old child of a US citizen. I have spent my entire life with my dad in another country and came to the States just for vacation and to visit my mom and found out that I could apply for the AOS because my petition has aLready been approved and I was just waiting for a visa number (or something like that, im not really sure about the technical stuff. hihi. ). I have filed the I-485or adjustment of status around 2 months ago, just before my 21st birthday. Last week I was given a notice that I will be having an interview next week, tuesday. I was just wondering what should I expect in the interview? Does anyone have any idea as to what questions will be asked? And what's next after the interview? Do they tell me immediately if the application is approved or denied? What kind of documents should I be ready with?

Im so nervous coz I have no idea what to expect.

Thanks.

Hi .. good luck withthe process but I am a bit confused.. You are a "child of a US Citizen"? .. via birth or via marriage?

that would clear things up alot more... ..

if you are via birth.. then.. why are you adjusting.. your father .. birth.. is a citizen.. therefore you are as well...

Love isn't love unless it is expressed;

caring isn't caring unless the other person knows;

sharing isn't sharing unless the other person is included

by marriage. my parents were divorced a long time ago. they were both filipino citizens and my mom was here in the states to work. she had a working visa with her. then, after the divorce she got married to a US citizen. she petitioned me when she was still an immigrant. it was approved but i still had to wait for a visa number to be available for me to become an immigrant. and then she updated/upgraded the petition when she became a citizen.

so i decided to come visit this summer and found out that i could apply for adjustment of status since the petition has already been approved anyway. and so on tuesday, i have a scheduled interview with the uscis and i have no idea what to expect. i just want to know if anyone has any clue as to what questions will be asked and what documents i need to have with me. will i find out on tuesday if my application is approved or denied?

Ahh, now I understand you were switched from an Family second preference visa type to an Family first preference type when your mother became a citizen, in that case you no longer needed to wait for a visa number.

I am not sure what they will ask you at the interview, I suspect not much, since your mother petitioned for you to follow.

I don't think they will deny your green card.

Anyway good luck.
