I have been waiting 7 months for the NOA2 so far, and i know this wait could be a further 3, 4 or worse still...5+ months. I hate being seperated as a family for so long. We have a 1 year old son together. He was born here in the United Kingdom. (I am the beneficiary. Last time i traveled to the U.S. with our son was December 1st for 90 days. Our son is a U.S. citizen, so obviously he traveled on his U.S. passport.)

It is very difficult stretch for us financially, however it would be worth it just to be together. It would also be very disapointing to spend so much money on return airfares for me and baby, to then find that we would have to leave a lot earlier in order to schedule appointments,.. "if" we received the NOA2 before my 90 days was up in the U.S. It wouldnt give us much time to raise the cash for our airfares back to the U.S. after my visa was issued. We have to allow for a 6 hour drive to and back from the airport to our home address in the U.S. Plus we have to stay overnight in a hotel, as it is too much travelling for baby in 1 day.

We could afford to do this, however i just dont want to end up spending all this on a visit less than 90 days because of not having that much longer for the NOA2. If it was an RFE, we could submit this while me and baby are still in the U.S with my fiance. If we get a straight approval (hopefully) would i need to return to the United Kingdom straight away? Or would i first have to wait for further instructions before needing to be present in the United Kingdom for the next step (for example, booking a medical examination)?

Really not sure what to do

plus i have just seen a CSC early September filer approved!! what to do!!

I honestly have no idea if it would be a good or bad idea to visit your fiance at this point.

All we VJ-ers know, is that the processing times are very unpredictable at the CSC for now and it could go up from anywhere between +-4 to +-10 months.

Since you've been waiting for 7 months it could be that your application will be approved within 90 days.

You say you guys have a one-year old, so I understand it's probably even harder having to sit this one out than when you'd be by yourself.

If you do plan to visit, be aware of the fact you might get an approval sooner than the day you're planning to go back to the UK again.

However, if you do get your NOA2 it will have to be send to the VSC first and you will receive further instructions about what to do.

You'll also have to schedule an appointment for your medical exam and they will schedule an appointment for your interview.

Usually the average time between a NOA2 and the interview varies between 6 - 12 weeks, so even if you get approved within the 90 days you might have time to visit.

Maybe it's an option for you to either buy an 'open ticket' so you can decide the date of your return flight later or ask your fiance to visit you instead?

I've been visiting my fiance for the past 3 months myself and heading back home on thursday.

When I got here in january I initially planned to stay for 2 weeks, but I rescheduled my flight back.

Now that we've been waiting for almost 6,5 months I'm really glad I stayed longer than planned since we haven't heard anything yet like many others.

Hope you'll be able to visit each other, but most of all I hope you'll receive your NOA2 soon and can be with each other regardless.

Good luck with everything!

I want to give you some London information because each consulate does it differently. Once your petition is approved, it goes through NVC (National Visa Center) not VSC as reported above.

From NOA2 to interview in London is about 3 months.

You do schedule your own medical.

The embassy will assign you an interview once your forms and medical results are at the embassy.

You can delay the interview by holding off sending the readiness for interview form DS-2001 or attending the medical.

Here is a list of things you will need to do and a thread with London K1 info. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/350185-london-2012-k1s-from-noa2-to-interview-thread/

You don't need to wait for instructions. Read the thread and there is a copy of the instruction letter and links posted to your instructions.

Money things to think about when budgeting for a ticket to the US now and in a few months:

$240 (Embassy)  Visa fee

£45  ACPO Police certificate

£227 (Knightsbridge Doctors) medical exam

£14.50 (DX Secure) Courier fee

$1070 (USCIS) Adjustment of Status/Work Authorization/Advance Parole after the marriage.

?? Transportation to London twice (medical and interview)

?? shipping your things to the US and all the baby things.

?? Summer tickets are the highest priced when you will be going after the visa is received.

thanks everyone. reading your input makes me feel we should wait and save this cash for our flight back after my visa is issued. Really hoping any day we will be approved now, as 3 months is a nail biting long time to wait for an interview!

Oops! I did mean the NVC of course. Wouldn't make sense if it goes from service center to service center.
