My fiance went to pay Banco Popular this morning, we anticipated paying $160 & $15 ($175 total) the Banco Popular employee told my fiance that the fee had increased. He actually paid in Dominican Pesos, he on one receipt it was about 6,000 pesos and the other 600 pesos. whatever he paid it ended up being equal to $183.75 US dollars.

was there really a fee increase? was my fiance mistakenly charged the wrong amount? will this create a problem? ¿Qué opinan?

I'm not 100% sure, but the fee increase may be because he paid in Pesos instead of US. Dollars. The exchange rate definitely factors in.

No, the peso to dollar is 41.10 to $1.00 so what he should have actually paid was a total of 7193 in pesos. This is give or take what we just paid in January. How did you pay cash or credit card. We used a debit card so they added an international tax of 4% so if that is what you did then the $183 is about right.

Yes, and it seems to change every other day.

This sound more or less just about right, cause at the time of my interview (3/14) the currency was at 41 and my husband paid (615 peso).

I went to pay the $175 fees last week and the same was about to happen to me, but what I did was to exchange my dollars in other place rather than the bank. The bank always buys dollars in a cheaper price and sell them more expensive, that was what happened in his case.

If I'd let them exchange my dollars at the bank I would pay the same as he did ;)

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
