What Exactly Does NVC Do With I-864

Does NVC adjudicate the actual AOS for I-130 folks (I mean verify, accept and process the I-864) or do they just collect the paperwork and put it in a tidy pile and ship it out to post like the I-129F process?

Reason I ask is that I have a tax bill owed this year, I will negotiate with IRS for a payment plan. So if NVC approves the AOS does that mean that the post do not go through it again?

Thanks.

the nvc checks the i-864 and supporting documents to make sure you meet the income requirements. They do not approve it, the CO has the final decision.

It is forwarded with the rest of your submitted documents to the US Embassy in Lagos for the CO to review for final decision.

The whole package is forward to Lagos. If you are on a payment plan you should be fine. The worse they normally do is subtract the amount owed from your income.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

@NVC - it is reviewed for completeness and a check is done to see if you qualify as a sponser.

Once the casefile hits the door at the IV unit, it is reviewed in some depth and detail, with final adjudication done there at the IV Unit.

If you can't get yer IRS stuff handled whilst doing NVC doc intake, try to have it finalized by the interview date, and have yer lass bring in the stuff showing the new info , on interview day.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
