It can't always be fake. It's a phenomenon that has been observed in too many people, across every continent, since the dawn of time. It can't always be fake. Those thoughts and/or feelings that present themselves as memories have to be coming from somewhere.

There is more to this world than we can see or hear or feel.

I agree. I think that this has happened, and I think there is a scientific explanation regarding how memories are stored, which we will someday prove, which well help us understand reincarnation better.

As someone who works in the computer field, I could say, if you take a hard drive out of one computer and put it in another, you get the same data. I look at it like that.

I do think, though, that specifically in India, there are fakes, specifically situations where people tell their children to act as if they are reincarnated to increase their standing, or something of that nature. But one story from the UK was very interesting.

i personally don't believe in anything, but reincarnation is something that makes sense to me. i wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if reincarnation is ever proven fact. it also works well with deism, in that "god" is creation and creation continues..

I don't believe in anything that requires blind faith. That's why I identify as Buddhist. Buddhism says, "question everything," and I often find the same conclusions as Gautama Buddha did when I do.

I think the problem with modern Buddhism (at least in Japan and Mongolia, where I have experienced it,) is that being a monk becomes a job. When they stop looking for answers and start looking for money, ladies, and nights out, being a monk becomes somewhat pointless.

Well, it doesn't really work with many of the god-fearing religions, as, from what I can tell, it seems they view life as a Heaven Entrance Exam. You only get one shot to get into the prestigious afterlife, and if you fail, sorry, but you'll be flipping burgers in the fiery underworld. That's my image, anyway.

Reincarnation means that, in most cases, you lose all memory of your past life, and start over freshly. This is something that a lot of people don't want to believe. The fact that you might start over as a dung beetle is something even fewer people want to believe. I just think it matters where your body's energy ends up.

i don't believe in heaven or hell, punishment or reward. the earth recycling its resources makes sense, its science. but i don't consider afterlife, with memory or otherwise. i can only think of my end as i remember my beginning.

"Flipping burgers in the fiery underworld" might be my new favorite view of the "heaven/Hell" concept

Reincarnation has always sounded so much more appealing to me than "eternity" in one place, in one mind, etc. I tend to believe in reincarnation when I believe in things, so I am biased, but just being able to live different lives sounds so amazing and wonderful. Perhaps traces of previous memories are retained, and even the essence of who you are is, but everything else gets to be different every time. So fascinating to consider - at least to me.

I am the USC/petitioner.

Ugh, I couldn't deal with eternity in one place, either. I'm too much of a nomad for that.
