Hi,

Yesterday I received an email from USCIS mentioning "i-485 Your Case Status: Testing and Interview" But I have not received anything about EAD. I want to know how long will it take to get my EAD? The email from USCIS is like this:

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: MSCxxxxxxxxxxx

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Testing and Interview

Your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS is now ready for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview. If you have not received the notice within 30 days of the date the notice is mailed, please call customer service at for further assistance. Please check our website at for further updates on your case. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

If your case status indicates that you are currently in this step, you have either been scheduled for an interview or are in line to be scheduled for an interview. The amount of time your application will remain in this step will vary by office and is largely determined by the number of cases ahead of yours. The interview notice will have specifics about time, location and anything you will need to bring to your interview. If your application remains pending beyond our normal processing times (as shown below) please contact our national customer service center at .

Please note that not every application/applicant will require an interview. In some instances, an interview is required by regulation and others an interview is requested because USCIS has determined that this is the most efficient means to determine eligibility. For a naturalization application the interview will include your taking the required English and/or Civics tests (unless exempt or waived).

If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results

listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current

processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.

*Current processing times can be found on the USCIS website at ..... under Check Processing Times.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

Now I got some job offers so I am expecting the work permit as soon as possible. Can anybody please tell me how long do I have to wait? Thanks

Congratulations.... your are being scheduled for an interview.... and if you read, most folks are approved on their interview. If you are approved, you do not need an EAD, you get your Green Card. Don't sweat it, but start reading how to prepare for the interview. Good Luck!

When did you apply for AOS and EAD/AP???? This will help us know what is next for you. You have been scheduled for an interview because of your local office is able to process your AOS. This is separate from your EAD/AP (remember they are their own individual applications). Normally you receive your EAD/AP within 2-3 months after applying or within 2 months after your biometrics. If you receive your GC, it replaces your EAD/AP regardless. You might be one of those who receives both at the same time.

It's completely normal. The EAD/AP is separated from the I-485 now; they are on different paths. EAD and AP will be approved within 90 days from filing.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package

It make take USCIS months to schedule an interview. Your GC gives you the right to work and travel, by itself. If you are approved at interview and still don't have your EAD, then it make take another week to print your card so you have proof of your status. If working is a huge issue and can't wait a week, you can request an I-551 stamp at the interview so you have a document proving your status.

I had my interview for I-485 today at 10am. We left early for the interview and reach the office at 9:45am. We organised every original and photocopy of all documents 1. Birth Certificate(both of us), 2. Marriage Certificate, 3. House Rent document of together, 4. SSN, Driver License, Passport, 5. 50 printed photos and more than 100 photos in a thumb drive. After a wait for only about 10 minutes we are asked for the interview. The lady interviewing was very friendly. Both my wife and me were a bit nervous before the interview. But all the question were super easy. Basically she asked the question we had to fill up for the I-485 and I-130. After the question she asked for photographs. We showed the photographs and then our rental documents. She then asked for joint bank account. We did not have one. But it was no problem. We explained that we did not needed any joint account. We also brought christmas and valentines day gifts which were just hand made cards. There were few portraits I drew of us together. She looked all those. And with a smile she took my I94 and cut through my VISA and signed it. She said within 2 weeks I will get the greencard by mail. And we are currently pregnant for 8 months, I think my unborn cute daughter also played a great role to get me the greencard. :D
