You'd think so, but it's actually a good and even-handed article. A compelling story of one of the most populous Muslim countries in the world holding back the rising tide of fanaticism and choosing secularism. Check it out.

Actually, it is a pretty good read. Didn't know that a certain VJ member has cousins over there in Bangladesh. I remember this state religion discussion we had lately (think it was in NC where they wanted to make Christianity the official state religion). Same ####### over there in Bangladesh. Some fools just don't get it. Secularism and a state religion cannot co-exist. Religious nuts of all stripes ought to soak that reality in.

That augments the predicament: how can it be a secular state when Islam has been declared the state religion?

In a secular state, religion is a private affair and the state pursues a neutral approach on religious matters. Having a state religion would seem to indicate the overturning of the secular nature of the state.
