My husband has a green card. We petitioned to bring his daughter to US and at visa interview he was told he needed to do a DNA test. The test came back stating he was not the bio dad, which was devastating for us. The visa was denied. Now the consulate set up a follow up appointment for his daughter. We have no idea what this could be for.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

That is very strange, unless she is an adult and they think she lied knowingly? Even then, once the visa is denied there is really nothing else to say....

Nope, she is under 7 so no question that she lied knowingly. Everyone thought my husband was the bio dad. Wonder what is going on....

Hi.

my husband is an LPR. We petitioned to bring his daughter (under 7) over and at the visa interview he was asked to do a DNA test. Unfortunately, the results showed he was not the bio dad, which was heartbreaking to all of us. The visa was denied. Now, all of a sudden the embassy set up a follow up appt and we have no clue what this could be for.

Any ideas??

Which US Embassy/Consulate was this ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

They probably are doing an investigation to see if your husband did this ( "lie" to immigration) as an honest mistake or as an effort to commit immigration fraud. It shouldn't be a big thing. They just have to check off the "petitioner was unaware of true parental status" box.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
