There are a lotttttttt of topics for this question. Try searching and reading some of those posts. A general rule of thumb is send everything that has both of ur names on it (phone bills, leases, house deeds, car loans, car insurance, life insurance, utility bills,joint bank accounts, joint credit cards, pictures, travel documents, 401k plan, life insurance etc).

After you mail in ur package, currently its taking about 7-9 months. There are some topics which exist on this forum so you can see when other plp are getting their cards. For example, if you file in April, look in the "April Filers 2013" topic.
