We are getting ready to send in our I-129F petition and noticed that my fiance(USC)only has 1 of his 3 divorce decrees, the others got misplaced while moving several times. It's my understanding that decrees from ALL marriages be given for the I-129F (please correct me if wrong). His marriages happened quite a few years back when he lived in California (all marriages were to USC, no immigration needed). He now lives in Washington State.

Upon doing some research into getting certified copies of them from CA can require an approx 6 month wait :blink:

I'm looking for information and a possible timeline from anyone who has obtained certified copies of divorce decrees from CA while residing in another state.

Another option we have, is for him to call/email/write/apply to the court in which county the decrees were issued and obtain a certified copy from them. If anyone can shed some experience in doing this, I'd love to know how long it could take.

Thanks.. Blessings to All

Hello there, i think you need to ask ur fiance to get the no record of marriage in his state first.

A letter by the local vital statistics office certifying that no marriage license or marriage

certificate of the applicant is found within the state where the applicant is residing in. The

search period must be started from the year when the applicant was 18-year-old to present. In

case the applicant was divorced, or a previous spouse is deceased, a certified photocopy of

death certificate must be submitted. (This requirement may vary from province to province).

Affidavit of Single Status. The applicant can request this document from the civil registry in

the state in which he resides or complete an affidavit at the U.S. Consulate. This document

must be signed within three months of application for a marriage certificate. The

notarization fee at the U.S. Consulate is $30 USD. If the applicant had a previous marriage,

present an authenticated copy of the divorce decree or death certificate for the previous

spouse(s);
