Yeah you are right and starting from you, joke. I did what you have said and that's why got checklist about PC where I just submitted the present address. Actually I have some fault about my ds230 number 30. I have a gap of 1 year from 16 to 17. NVC wanted starting 16 years old. So I have to revise my ds 230. When I was at 16 it was another place where you were high school. When I was at 17 another place again bec you started college. So I assume they are not strict about it hehehe

Yes, that is my experience too. I did not submit local police clearance and was required by nvc to do so. so i submitted all police clearances where i have resided officially (not including dormitories) for more than 6months. Only 1 out of 4, required a barangay clearance of the places where i stayed. MAnila, quezon city, and valenzuela all did not require me to submit a barangay clearance. So no, not all municipalities or city require a barangay clearance, but here where i presently reside (province) they did require me to present a barangay clearance, a municipal court clearance and mayors clearance just to release my local police clearance.

Anyway i guess its up to the place where you reside what their requirements are. But yes, you do need local police clearance to go along with your ds230 and your nbi.

But when you get to the interview, you only need to update your nbi if it lapses its validity date (1year from date of issue).

Hi! I read in NVC requirements that the police certificate should cover the entire period of residence in that area. However when I went to the police station of the cities that Ive lived in and asked where I will put the years of my residency in the application form, they asked me what its for and then I said its for US Visa Immigration requirement. Then they issued me a police certification stating my years of residency and that I have no record, signed and stamped with dry seal but no pic, instead of the generic blue clearance. My question is will that certificate do? Cause I havent read any post that someone had the same clearance and it seemed like Im the only one who have been given the certificate. Help pls?

The embassy does NOT want a police certificate from the Barangay where you lived, they only want a police clearance from the foreign country where you lived for 6 months or more from the age of 16 years and older, if you never lived in a foreign country then forget about the police certificate. For the Philippines the embassy only wants the NBI for TRAVEL ABROAD.

Your timeline and profile are lacking information, so I don't know what visa you are chasing.

:time:

I have no idea why you would have read that, I would have to read the post (do you have the link?). For the K-1 a police certificate from within the Philippines is not a requirement of the embassy.

Follow the embassy instructions letter.

As stated here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit/documents-to-submit-to-nvc.html

An applicant must obtain a police certificate from the local police authority:

IF you…

AND…

have been living in your country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months

you are 16 years old or older

lived in a different part of your country of nationality for more than 6 months

you were 16 years or older at that time

lived in a different country for more than 12 months

you were 16 years or older at that time

were arrested for any reason

you were any age at the time of the arrest

Please help.. TIA!

1st... don't use that website for gathering documents required by the embassy, that is generic information.

What visa are you chasing? If immigrant check out the USEM website.

Well for NVC that is a different story, I was only referring to the embassy. Sorry for the confusion.

So with that link given to me by the NVC then does it mean I really need police certificates from the cities I have llived right?

I have not done the immigrant visa so I am not the best one to ask. I would follow the guidance of others that have done the process. A few have posted to you already.

yeah thats wh im confused.. some of them didnt get police certs, and some did.. Well I intend to get those, problem is they issued me a certificate stating my years of residency and no records stamped and signed but no pic and thumbmark and not the generic blue colored police clearance. So I wanna know which of the two of them are acceptable.

Well thank you anyway.. Youve been very helpfulbiggrin.png

In our case, my wife got both NBI and local police records for me to send. She worked in other country before so I don't know if its different than your case. One says for US, one just says for aboard. For the local one the form don't have picture, but they attach her pic on there. So far NVC still reviewing so I can't tell you if we are good or need more doc. My advice is send all the records you have.(the NBI one is a must) I don't think it hurts the process to send too much doc, but not enough it's going to delay the process.
