The IRA was actually the first thing that popped in my mind since it's Boston. I think they're pretty much a thing of the past now though. I guess I watch too many movies. Hard to say at this point.

Very doubtful it's the IRA. They haven't pulled anything like this either on the mainland or in NI in a long, long time. I can't see why the American nutjobs who still align themselves with the rump of that terrorist organisation would do this in the US.

Why would the IRA, or any of the various splinter groups, be setting off bombs in the USA? To my recollection, they never did during the height of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
