I-864 #25 & I-864A #11 Filing Taxes Jointly

Hello!

I am filing I-864 for both my parents. I am currently unemployed, so my husband will be submitting I-864A as a household member. I have read the VisaJourney website, but still would like to clarify some questions.

1. My husband and I file taxes jointly. In question 25 in I-864 I need to enter my total income. In 2012 I would put zero, but since I was employed in 2010 and 2011 it looks like I should I put the amounts from my W-2s. Would it be line 1 Wages, tips, other comp. or a different line? Based on my research on VisaJourney I shouldn’t put the combined income from our joint taxes (line 22, 1040 form). I need clarification which line amount to use from W-2s.

2. Question 11 in I-864A. The amount for 2012 is clear since I didn’t work, so I can use line 22 from 1040. Again as far as I understand we should put only my husband’s income for 2011 and 2010, the amounts from his W-2s. Should we use line 1 Wages, tips, other comp.?

3. For 2010 and 2011 the amounts combined from W-2s will most likely not tie to line 22 in 1040 form (line 22 in 1040 will be little higher than combined amounts from W-2s) due to small amounts of dividends. Do I need to explain the difference?

Thank you so much for your help!

Well, just in case someone will have similar questions in the future. I just called NVC and was told to put combined Adjusted Gross Income from our 1040 joint tax returns in both I-864 (#25) and I-864A (#11).

No, I mean line #25 Federal Income Tax Return Information on the I-864 form and line #11 (I don't see a, b, c) Federal Income Tax Information on the I-864A. There is space to put in information about 3 tax years.

Perhaps the forms' layout has changed?

There is no line 25 on the 864.

#11, a,bc i meant the three rows under there.

I think your old line 25 is now #13 a b c
