Hm, I don't think I can help it. I was raised by liberal tree-huggers who wouldn't order from Dominos because they contributed to Republican candidates and pro-life causes. I still can't eat it.

 That's funny. Don't worry you're not missing much, their pizza sucks.

I actually like Domino's. I don't care if they contribute to global warming or kill red pandas to make their pizza. :P

Don't you live in New York? There's got to be a zillion better tasting pizzas than Dominos...plus, their idea of topping is around 3....3 mushrooms, 3 olives, 3 pepperoni's.

The fact that people don't get this worries me more than the terrorists, who we can find and kill.

Me too! Take a serious thread and turn it into a pizza! It just shows the mentality.

They are really not that bad here in New York -- and I've had bad experiences with

other pizza places in my neighbourhood. Also, they deliver :P

Hey, this behavior just typifies what most Americans have become; they'd rather watch Dancing With the Stars and drift into mindless oblivion, or in this case hijack my thread and blather on about pizza......

i think its sickening how they lock out CNN for showing whats really happening over there, instead of locking out fox news for not showing whats real and continueing to try and convince ppl that we are winning and doing "wonderful" over there in iraqi

Perhaps you don't get it. This was a "staged" killing of a U.S. serviceman meant to be filmed. This is not what's "really" happening over there. It is what a single enemy camera man and sniper want you to beleive is happening over there.

It's called propaganda and is used to manipulate your beliefs and opinion(s) concerning the war in Iraq.

The fact that people don't get this worries me more than the terrorists, who we can find and kill.

Me too  ......Is this situation not intuitively apparent? <shrug>

Then i stand wrong and corrected over the CNN thing, i still stand by my FNC statement tho :)

Kaydee did you actually watch the CNN report before you commented on it?

No I did not. The article describes its content quite clearly; an enemy camera man (terrorist) filming the sniper killing a U.S. serviceman.

I'll ask you these questions.

Who/whom is the targeted audience of a filmed killing of a U.S. seviceman? Is this an Al Quada training film or one meant to migrate into the U.S. evening news? How did CNN get it? Why would they show it?

How did they get it? Probably by the usual way that these things are sent in – via the postal mail. No big conspiracy there. Things get sent in all the time - anonymously I might add.

As for why they would show it – that’s a rather more difficult question and really require having seen the report to be able to speak with any authority on it. If come across a transcript – we can discuss.

Other than that you are merely speculating, based on subject assumptions about how the news media operates.

Care to tell me where I'm speculating "based on subject assumptions about how the news media operates"?

I'm not even sure what that means.

You assume that the media has an overwhelmingly anti-government liberal bias – and are offering a 3rd hand story as an example to validate it. The story you posted isn’t even about the CNN report, it’s about a hotel refusing to air the channel because of it.

You’re speculating because you haven’t viewed the report but are rendering an opinion on it anyway. I’m saying if you want to talk about it with any authority – at least have direct familiarity with the original material. CNN posts their reports online I believe…

It seems a little pointless to have a discussion about something that noone has actually seen.

It seems a little pointless to have a discussion about something that noone has actually seen.

The "story", and its airing on CNN, was discussed at length last night on FOX NEWS channel and of course was criticized as going way over the line in terms of its "newsworthiness". Note that most reputable news organizations don’t air videos of beheadings. This video is apparently of the same gruesomeness and has the same intent, propaganda to be used in the media.

Pointless? The fact is that I personally don't have to be an eyewitness to any incident to form an opinion about the incident. Neither do you, nor do any of us.

For example, you've never been to the middle east (an assumption on my part) but you have an endless repertoire of (pointless) opinions about its people and politics, don't you? You base your opinions on what you read, I suppose.......

My perception of the media coverage of the war is based on my personal travels to the middle east, what I've seen there verses what I subsequently read and hear in the media. On average the stories are mostly portrayed negative and it's clear that there's an anti-war, anti-Bush bias.

I've been to the Middle East too -- regularly on business. And I backpacked through it as a tourist (including Syria, Jordan, Israel, Egypt and Lebanon) during the height of terror scares in the nineties. It doesn't make me an expert on the war in Iraq, however.

I'm no tourist. I have a direct relationship with our military forces.
