Hotel Chain locks out CNN

i think its sickening how they lock out CNN for showing whats really happening over there, instead of locking out fox news for not showing whats real and continueing to try and convince ppl that we are winning and doing "wonderful" over there in iraqi

I find it odd that FNC is being shown anyway. In most hotels I've been in, the only choice for news has traditionally been CNN. I'd actually like it if they show both FNC and CNN. This way, you'd really get a balanced report -- coverage from the "right" on FNC and coverage from the "left" on CNN.

I dunno, I usually like to support businesses I don't think are completely sleazy.

And you're not alone. I happen to think that's silly because it takes attention away from quality vs cost of the business's actual product. When quality suffers because consumers are making decisions based on other factors, the consumer suffers. JMHO.

some consumers broaden their definition of quality. it isn't a simple formula of x% clean at y cost. for some is 'stature' or location or historical value ,or etc... at least when it comes to hotels... and yes, then there is the 'they support my views' angle too. Complicated? Sure.

No I did not. The article describes its content quite clearly; an enemy camera man (terrorist) filming the sniper killing a U.S. serviceman.

I'll ask you these questions.

Who/whom is the targeted audience of a filmed killing of a U.S. seviceman? Is this an Al Quada training film or one meant to migrate into the U.S. evening news? How did CNN get it? Why would they show it?

That's how I feel about it. Or it's how I *would* feel about hotels, if my actual formula for selecting a hotel wasn't Price (under $50) times how many homeless people drinking brownbagged liquor are likely to be sitting outside the lobby.

Perhaps you don't get it. This was a "staged" killing of a U.S. serviceman meant to be filmed. This is not what's "really" happening over there. It is what a single enemy camera man and sniper want you to beleive is happening over there.

It's called propaganda and is used to manipulate your beliefs and opinion(s) concerning the war in Iraq.
